  • meu question (and possibly all 1911 varients)

why do they lock back to this position? the way the slides built it looks like its a design feature and not just a sticky slide is there a reason for this? the eonly one i can see is that it locks back enough to push the coupling pin out but it doesnt come back for enough for that

    any answers?

    thanks in advance

    heres a pic

my Tm meu mate slide all the way back ,

make sure you have nothing jammed in the slide as that is not the right position

    should look like this

check the hammer is not fouling the rear underside of the slide/blowback mech !

pull hammer down and hold it down while trying to push the slide rearward

the slide is just caught on the slide release mate, instead of the slide stopping at the rear most, it is somehow catching on the strip down pins notch

its definitely the hammer you can see it go down then up when you pull the slide back its not a problem it just looks like its sposed to do it which is why i was asking

Ahh yes ,most 1911s will catch on the hammer if eased forward slowly

yeah its only slowly it does it as i say its not a problem at all but the underside of the slide has a little lump which looks like its built to accept the top of the trigger when it comes back slowly its hard to explain

I know exactly what you mean mate . If i'm thinking for the correct part it is part of the disengagement system for the hammer mech

its the small arm the latch's onto the hammer bar mate,

needs re installing correctly sa it has come loose
