1911 paint up
22 July, 2012, 23:52
Ok now,
I have a 1911 socom gear in tan that is showing signs of a bit of wear, it really could do with a new paint job.
Now my questions are
Any suggestions on colour?
And what is the best and most robust type of paint to use as I don't wanna repeat this prosess every half a year or so.

Re: 1911 paint up
Do it something bizzare.
Like orange with a black gradient
Or red?
Whenever i see a uniquely painted gun, it always catches my eyes.
Do it!

I swear sir, I don't like twotone, spare my life!
Nah, what im picturing is a black matte base coat then flickers or little sprays of orange, something along those lines. Maybe even a small selection of fall colours (red, orange, yellow,) to get into the upcoming season!
Looking back at the post im wondering why I said that, wasn't even slightly intoxicated.
Just was thinking of something unique.
Sprayed my white xbox controller with flickers of black paint, came out really good. And decided what it would look like on a 1911 as ive never seen a "uniquely" sprayed pistol!
Lets use Kevlaa as out test subject, shall we?

Im hoping it will be mate.
I've sent it to an engineers where he is going to acid dip it to totally get it back to metal. then I'm getting the hammer and safety's etc powder coated. With a nice clean lacker covering the upper and lower receivers.
I'm just waiting on the return of it

WOW. so the silvers the base metal? I've got the same 1911 in black but she's looking a bit tired. I think you just inspired me to have a look and see what I can do to breathe some new life into the old girl. Nice job!
