  • HK416 accepting M4 type RIS

I am writing this post to help out someone who is in the position I was until recently. I have a G&G T4-18 (HK416) and I was trying to figure out whether I could install an AR/M4 type free float rail to replace the standard 9" rail system. Here is how to install one:

    1) Take off the 416 rail system by unscrewing the philips head screw at the back of the rail, and slide it off forwards.
    2) Remove the 416 gas block - this is done by punching out the two pins and removing one hex screw.
    3) Screw the 416 rail attachment disc-thing off of the receiver threading.
    4) Install the free float as with any normal M4/M16/AR15.

The main problem is that the rail on the top of the 416 receiver is about 1/4" higher than a normal M4, so the rail system top rail will not match up perfectly with the receiver.

I am very happy with my efforts, as illustrated below! Hope this has helped someone out there!

    Chrispy.
