Creating the 'weathered' look with krylon
30 October, 2012, 21:53
Looking to add something to my M4.. Going with the weathered look, but unsure of the best way of doing it!
Obviously using Krylon etc, what's the best technique and the best paint to create a good weathered look?

I really like the look of this one if you have a metal body.

!
Using krylon though i would imagine you would spray with a colour of your choice then once dry sand off the areas you would expect to see the most worn to reveal the surface underneath.
Theres a few video on youtube as well

Re: Creating the 'weathered' look with krylon
If you check out the colt m4 picture thread pricey and a few others have done weathered look guns using krylon. If its plastic you just do a light dusting with a tan krylon (or halfords camo paint range) and then use white spirit to clean it off where you would get natural usage. Makes it look like there is sand and stuff in all the crevices.
Sanding only works on Metal guns (obviously!) and I think would look naff if some of your gun is plastic and some metal. Depends on your gun though.

Everything on mine is metal apart from parts of the stock..
Don't like the idea of sanding at all!
