  • G&G - Painting the blowback "bolt"

Really daft question on my part, and I think i already know the answer.
But on the G&G M4/HK416 variants, the blowback "bolt" is silver.
I want to paint it black, I assume there would be no side effects from this and be completely harmless.

Unless any of you think of an issue this would cause?

Nope, I have seen these bolts painted black completely successfully, just as long as you leave the sliders clean.

Could you imagine one with a little troll face on it, sliding back and forward!

Should put quagmires face on it, with "giggity" in quotes, then as the bolt moves so will good ol' quaggy, operating his trademark head jerks.

Could probably have quagmire on the bolt and Giggity Giggity on the dust cover

Re: G&G - Painting the blowback "bolt"

I was thinking of doing it darker as well, I've just rubbed it back abit atm it look good brushed

An yes its fine to paint it. When you take it apart your see how simplistic it is, how the part your talking about, the bit you see is clear from its operation, it would be very easy to mask off an spray

DIY while in there.... at the bottom of the fake bolt is a ski (guide or runner) that slides back an forth rubbing against the gearbox housing, pull it back, an rub back, in that place only take off the rough silver gearbox coating back to smooth metal an coat in grease, an alittle grease on piston arm etc any where you see fit, your find the operation slightly smoother a crisper, an the bolt wont stop short sometimes it will always fully return, an for 2mins work
