No issues at all most guns will easily take 9.4V

There is no 8.4v AEG mate, only which battery you chose to put in that AEG, but as robin says, better quality now, but more cost.

Re: 9.6v in a 8.4 aeg
There could well be warranty issues. If the manufacturer recomends 8.4 and you buy a new gun from a supplier and use a 9.6 and for some reason it all ends in tears. You will probably not be covered by any warranty. Unless of course you discuss the issue first.
That asside...VFC are known to report that they test all thier guns on a 12v car battery. But please don't try this at home kids....lol

Re: 9.6v in a 8.4 aeg
Depends what rifle you are running mate...different brands tend to be able to take different batteries.
TM can take 9.6v, but from my experience they tend to break quicker. I am not sure but the gears they use are quite awful, mainly due to the 1 joule limit they have in Japan.
ICS, JG, G&G, G&P etc I find a 9.6v is right at home in them. Of course, your parts will wear out quicker, but with the better build quality it will last just as long as any TM.

Put them in an empty room, chuck a few dynatecs in there with them.
And then just spray them with a vulcan, that'll teach them how to behave..
