Motorola - Kenwood Radio Programming
17 April, 2013, 12:32
Hi guys,
I have a Motorola XTN446, and I'm trying to pair with one of the 16 channel Kenwood radios (not sure of the model)
I've been told all I need to do is scan with my Motorola to find the channel I new to be on. I've done that, but it's not working.
The only thing that happens is when I press the PTT on the Kenwood, the Motorola scans through the channels at a slower speed...
Can anyone help?

Re: Motorola - Kenwood Radio Programming
Sounds like the Kenwood has different CTCSS codes set.
This is what makes the different "channels" out of only 8 actual frequencies.
If the CTCSS codes are mismatched, the radio will detect a signal, but it won't recognise the code. That could slow the scan when it stops to listen.
Knowing the model numbers of the radios will help.

Ill try and find it. The Kenwood I think is a clone, as it doesn't actually have the words Kenwood on it anywhere!

Re: Motorola - Kenwood Radio Programming
Type and/or serial numbers are often in the battery compartment if not on the outside.
