Ultimate Gearbox, What parts?
5 March, 2010, 19:59
OK, my last idea was shown to be a bust, here's the next one.
If I wanted to build the perfect gearbox, what would I want to use?
I would like to build it for a steyr AUG.
I'm hoping for a super quiet, awsomly accurate AEG with good ROF and no trigger lag.
I'm also interested in the barrel and hop options.
Should I start with an existing gearbox, or get all the parts and build it up? (or find someone that could do it for me)
I'm no expert at this, so all advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all your advice

Re: Ultimate Gearbox, What parts?
There is NO ultimate gearbox, as different people always recommend different bits. Whatever you do don't buy the most expensive thinking they are the best, as this isn't the case. My personal preferences are:
Modify smooth gearset, preferably high speed ratio or Prommy/Guarder super speed set
Guarder/TM/Supercore piston
Guarder explosive piston head
Hurricane/Modify spring guide
Modify AR latch
Modify Auto cut off lever
Lonex cylinder head
Hurricane/Modify air nozzle
9mm bearing gearbox, or for 6/7mm metal bushings
Cylinders are practically all the same from my experience
Decent switch block also. Systema being my personal favorite.
As for the hop on an AUG i have no idea. But barrel wise you can't go wrong with a madbul Python V2. H-nub bucking and a TM/Guarder hop rubber.
Motorwise i like the G&P M120 and the TM EG1000.

Everyone goes on about how inspiring the story of Anne Frank is, but when I keep a little jewish girl in my attic suddenly THATS NOT OK?

Re: Ultimate Gearbox, What parts?
Hunter,
Thanks for the advice. I will look into all of those parts.
Trust,
Thanks for the offer
I will need a techie to put it all together, but it won't be for a while yet. I will let you know.
As Hunter has mentioned, different people have different preferances, so I will continue with this thread for a while to see what other ideas are out there.
Thanks Guys.
