Inner Barrels in Silencers

I keep getting asked this question whenever I run a gun with a silencer on it:

"Nice silencer. Did you out a longer inner barrel in and run it to the end of the silencer?"

Where has this fad come from, and why on earth do people do it?

And people still believing the fallacy that is Longer barrel = more accuracy/range

as above, ppl think longer barrel = more accurate

i was guilty of this when i first started, wont do it again lol, and why i own a vfc baby
