Real steel m4/ ar15 receiver conversions
29 December, 2013, 18:33
Thought I'd ask a quick question to see if it's possible to fit airsoft internals into a real steel m4 or ar 15 receiver as I have seen a custom receiver that I'm considering as a project if it is possible

i dont think it is legal for you to have a real steel receiver in your possession, unless you are a certified gunsmith

Yeah, the lower receiver is the part classed as the gun so they are illegal to own unless your a gunsmith as Mr Hawk mentioned

Re: Real steel m4/ ar15 receiver conversions
I may be talking bullshit but what about keeping an eye out for a PTW lower, from what i understand these are as near as damit to a RS one, the only issue i would see is the motor bracket is specifically designed for a PTW motor. See attached.

If it's a custom job why not contact the person who made it and get them to do you a non-firearm one?

Re: Real steel m4/ ar15 receiver conversions
You wont fit normal aeg internals into a ptw/ctw etc reciever at all.
Which reciever set is it that your after? as there is a company that makes recievers for TW's, that might already make it. But would mean buying a TW
lol

Re: Real steel m4/ ar15 receiver conversions
There are other practicalities beyond the illegality.
Such as the motor positioning.
Also, IIRC, one of the problems with some APS AEGs is magazine wobble because they use real steel magwell dimensions.

Re: Real steel m4/ ar15 receiver conversions
Motor isn't an issue if your going for a P* build. What is an issue though, is that you won't fit a gearbox in a RS dimensioned lower, they are too narrow. You could (illegally) build a WA pattern GBBR using it though :P

I can put you in contact with a guy who could make you one but it wouldn't be cheap.

that's the US way of doing things.
over here, any working part is restricted. which includes uppers, lowers, bolts, barrels, and a selection of other bits, unless they are deactivated.
and if they are deactivated, using them on an airsoft gun would be classed as reactivation.
Not actually a builder
