Bakelite Mags for AK Variants
29 January, 2014, 00:31
Hi All,
Apologies if this has already been answered, did a quick search and couldn't turn up much...
Has anyone carried out a Mid/Hicap Conversion on a Real Steel, Bakelite type AK Mag?
I'd imagine it would be FAIRLY simple but want to make sure before I destroy some Bakelite mags.
Otherwise, does anyone have a good tip for making Plastic mags appear more like Bakelite?
Many Thanks,
Matt

Re: Bakelite Mags for AK Variants
Hmm, and yet a quick search on Google yielded a fair few results for me...
I haven't seen the vids, but here's a how to:

And a how to make your plastic mags more bakelite

If you also look at the Soviet based airsoft forum there's a detailed guide on there, using G&P mid caps, which were apparently the best to use, although when I bought mine they were a bit pricey

Re: Bakelite Mags for AK Variants
Funnily enough, when I made the thread I didn't engage the brain and only searched this forum *facepalm*
I also subsequently missed your update Fizzy and found the very same video and the very same Soviet based Forum of which you speak.
So had I seen this 4 days ago, as was intended, this would have been useful, just as it would have been me engaging one's googlefu
But thank you for your post Fizzy!
I've also found a steady and semi reasonable supply for AK47/74 bakelite mags as well as steel AK mags, so I shall be reshelling my Cyma mids and some Mag Mids when I get them

Re: Bakelite Mags for AK Variants
Quite tempted to swap out my black 74 mags for some orange ones now and do that to them
