Re: Running a tracer on a 7.4v LiPo?
Okay it seems i am making this thread into my own place of documentation, so actual circuit diagram AWAY!
obviously i am generalising the tracer down as a switch and UV Led, and skipping everything else out, but the point stands.

Re: Running a tracer on a 7.4v LiPo?
Bit messy, as i didnt get big enough heat shrink to cover the L7806, so glue gun, just to prevent any shorts.

Re: Running a tracer on a 7.4v LiPo?
About the price of four decent Rechargeable AAAs
Capacitors: £2 (for 4)
Deans are about 50p a pair
Wiring is about a quid for a metre
The two lipos were £6.50
And the L7806 are £1 for a pair
So about £11
Although being electrical products on ebay, i have enough spares bar the lipos to make another one.

Re: Running a tracer on a 7.4v LiPo?
one thing i will say, drop a bit of glue over the positive and negative terminals on the PCB, as ive grabbed the things twice now while putting it back in the suppressor and you get quite a jolt off the circuit!

I'd probably have heatshrinked the entire pcb. or electrical tape for protecting it as much as myself :p

Re: Running a tracer on a 7.4v LiPo?
Right, a bit of a progress update. Been using it a few months now, basically the little lipos dont last long enough. So with a bit of 10mm brass pipe and a few mins ive extended the tracer the length of the suppressor, and pulled all the foam out. As the PBS is the perfect length to fit a VP 1450 7.4 in. Now she works a treat, trialling for longevity on sunday.
