Sight too big for rail
12 March, 2014, 20:24
Hi guys, newbie question here. Recently got my first gun a CYMA MP5SD6 with a rail included (no indication as to the rail make but pretty sure its a standard 20mm RIS). On general advice which was that usually sights made for airsoft will fit on more or less any RIS, I got a Walther MP5 G3 Red Dot:

however it is too large for my rail by a few mm at least. Am I missing something simple here in terms of mounting the sight or do I need a wider rail?
Thanks.

Re: Sight too big for rail
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks very much like a claw mount (i.e. not meant to fit on 20mm RIS rail)
You want something like this -

(NB - this is just the first sight I came across, you may want to pick something else)
In fact -
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=2498
is something very similar to what you've just bought - it almost certainly is a "claw mount" designed to fit on MP5/G3 type guns, that don't have a RIS rail - they just fit round the body.

Re: Sight too big for rail
Yep that sight is for direct fitting to the top part of a standard non railled mp5/g3 receiver. Unless you can remove the rail ontop then that will not fit.

Yep got one of those on my mp5. Locks on in front and behind where the brass ejection post is.

Ah nice, I'll just ditch the rail then. Thanks for response.

Not sure, I use a multi tool so just chose the one that fit.

Buy a full set cheap ass. Seriously dude you can get a set in a pound shop! Your gonna need em anyway as you get into airsoft n buy more kit. Make sure you buy metric not imperial.
