Rail shims
28 May, 2014, 21:05
What do you guys used as rail shims?
I'm guessing there V thin washers, and like most thing airsoft can be picked up a lot cheaper if there no airsoft related...
So what do I need to Google?

Re: Rail shims
You mean shimming an off-spec mount so it fits a rail or vice versa?
I use normal shims, as they are easy enough to come by. You want to shim between the top flat of the rail and the underside of the mount, not the edges to ensure a correct engagement.
You can buy shim steel sheet, but I've yet to find anywhere that has it cheap, and in sensible quantities. It generally has to be laser cut too, otherwise the bent edges ruin its shimming capability

Re: Rail shims
My G&P came with an o-ring which you just tightened the barrel nut up against. Worked perfectly.

Re: Rail shims
I know about them... but I was wondering if there wasn't anything that I could use instead of them... as in normal washers,... as as soon as you put airsoft infront of something it becomes much more expensive... airsoft pistol O rings > O ring
