  • Breathing new life into old guns

I've recently started skirmishing again after almost 8 years, since I've still got my old G36 AEGs, M3 shotgun, HiCapa 5.1 and KSC M11's I was wondering what restoration/maintenance actions I need to take to bring them back up to maximum efficiency.

Although I didn't leave the spring compressed, will it have lost some power?
Would the hop bucking degrade over time?

Fortunately, all my gas mags seem to be leak free!

Easiest bet is new spring, hop bucking and grease ordered in one go. Not really expensive, and these parts do have a limited life. Strip the gearbox, check the shimming, clean everything with Gunk, check for damage, grease and reassemble. Clean the barrel, replace your bucking and your rifle should be good to go.

For the gbbs, strip, clean, oil, replace the bucking and test the action. They should be fine if the mags are good. Maybe soak the gas routers in oil the improve the seal.

Do not seat KSC gas routers in oil ! Or even excessive silicone oil as they swell up and tern to jelly .
