Re: Tracer unit modification ...
So it uses four UV LED's ?
Crazy...
The TM one uses an actual strobe, not sure if its two or not.
If you replace it with a strobe unit, you may find that the capacitors wont be powerful enough to provide enough charge for a strobe...
Tricky stuff....
Infact, I have a JG tracer unit internal minus the casing... complete with strobe, caps etc... Interest you ? lol

Ah. I see now.
Its the IR light gate you are talkin about.
Not UV
I know mine works perfectly, tho isnt as fast as the tm one...
I shall take a pic for you when I get home.

Re: Tracer unit modification ...
They are most definately not UV - They are Infrared. There will be a faint glow from them making you think they are not IR, but it most definately is an IR light gate.
They also arent really meant to show up, but one of the tx or rx irled's will glow slightly.

Re: Tracer unit modification ...
it meant to be a Bright flash when the sensor gate is broken so it makes the bb's glows

Re: Tracer unit modification ...
I dont think you know what you are talking about tbh. Apologies for being a bit rude.
YES, the BB breaks the IR light gate, which activates the Flash strobe super fast, as it has the charge stored in the capacitors which in turn makes the BB glow very bright.
I have dug out the tracer unit internals for you, im a bit pickled at the mo, so will post a pic for you tomorrow.
You paid 4 quid for a reason...

Re: Tracer unit modification ...
white flash uv , not purple ones.
Again. what are you talking about?
UV is not used in tracer units atall. UV is only used in tracer mags, where a UV source is constantly powered shining on the BB's in the mag. UV shines purple.
Tracer units have an infrared light gate at the entry point, which activate a white light strobe flash unit. No UV is used at all in a tracer silencer.

Re: Tracer unit modification ...
IR and uv are at different Parts of the light spectrum hence we can see a faint purple glow from uv as our eyes can see that wave length but yes uv LED's are used in mags and hops as a constant uv light source or more concerntrated unit of light on a specific area e.g the path the bb follows as its fed out of ur mag
A tracer unit however uses IR as a light gate like a switch , once the bb breaks the line of light to the ir sensor the strobe is triggered to charge the tracer round hence using a uv led wobt work as a light gate with a ir sensor but what will work is if you jam a load or those uv led's in the tracer and capacitors powered by some sort of cell ....... 9v battery ?
Which will work like a illuminated mag but wont make the tracers immensly bright
