springer or semi auto??
23 December, 2010, 02:40
I've got a spring sniper at the moment but im not sure weather to switch to a semi-auto sniper rifle. The two semi auto rifles I have in mind are the King Arms 24" FF Heavy Barrel Sniper Rifle or an M14 variant. Also i wouldnt mind having a go at building my own semi auto sniper maybe out of an m4 body and was wondering how hard that could be.
Cheers
Ash

Re: springer or semi auto??
basically you swapping shooting time for range, most sites operate on 500 for bolt action and 400 for semi's, personal prefernce

Re: springer or semi auto??
but if you could use a semi auto at 500 you dont think you would lose anything over a springer?
iv never used a semi auto sniper so have no idea

Re: springer or semi auto??
the only way i could think you will be aloud a semi auto sniper at 500 fps .Would to get a programable mosfet and program it so you can only shoot once every 4-6 secs ,so it will be repricating a bolt action fire rate.

FOR THE LAST TIME FPS DOES NOT = RANGE
A good hop ,hop rubber ,barrel and airseal gives you good range NOT fps that why the tm m14 has very good range.
Sorry to get anrgy but this comes up alot and is a tipical noob thing as most noobs think there 450 fps (HOT) clone aeg will out range anything just because of the fps.

Re: springer or semi auto??
cheers again guys for the input. like i said im prity new to this and as far as i knew ,before this convo, was that you had either 350fps or 500fps for snipers. i had no idea semi auto snipers were lower.

Re: springer or semi auto??
aegs -350 ,330 for cqb
semi auto sniper anywhere from 400-425 (depends on which site)
bolt sniper 450-500 but again depends on site as my local site has made every gun be under 350 fps

im not sure why your getting "angry" but surly its basic physics that the more energy you give somthing the faster/further it can travel. i mean also taking into account a good hop and barrel.
like i said though i am new and becasue of this i may ask "typical noob things" but i did try and flick through other threads before starting this one.

Re: springer or semi auto??
Yer great please make a habbit of searching before you post thanks :D
And sorry fot that i just wanted to make it clear and no fps does not =range as i have a custom m4 running at 345-348 fps and its got
fire fly hop rubber
prommy barrel
prommy hop unit with neo arm
and systema ftk and the range is very very good but still not as far as bolt snipers .Also the best and easiest way to get good range is get .25g bbs or .28g thats if you got an aeg but with snipers you might want .30g -.40g depends on fps and what you like the best.

Re: springer or semi auto??
I have a m4 sniper which is currently being locked to semi. I really like having a almost "sniper" set up on my AEG's as it's alot easier not to cock and i feel. Another good point is i allways take two shots incase the first one miss's.
I have also had a JG Bar10 and getting another bolt sniper because i love the fact i haven't got to worry about battery's or gas etc. And they're incredible in every single way. Also their quite cheap ^_^

Re: springer or semi auto??
I have an M14, and it outranges most things on the field but that's because I put
alot
of effort into it, it's not quite done up to the spec I'd like it to be, and it does show because the upgraded bolt actions still are more accurate than I am. But I chose an M14 because I like it, and wouldn't sell it because of the 100 extra fps
