  • m4 project need advice.

Ok guys i've got this parts list and was wondering if they'll work nicely. And what a predicted ROF would be.

Element Hi speed gear set and piston 16:1 ratio
    Element Shim set
    Element 7mm metal bearing set
Element max speed motor ( Long Type )

I was thinking i could buy an element full steel teeth piston to replace the one that comes with the hi speed gears. Would this effect the ROF much?
Gun is a G&G combat machines m4 carbine.

    Cheers guys.

Will probably run a 9.6 as i'm not looking a ubbly high rate of fire.

Well with all the mod's it should run sweet. I think SAS Scott had his P90 running at 20+ rps with a 9.6v and said motor. So with the gears it would be 23 I guess.

Ok mate thank you, is their anything i should know about installing these gears as i'm sure the standard ones are not 16:1?

The normal ratio is 18:1 so said gears would bump it up abit. I would keep the piston that comes with the set, mabye get some spares. Only get the full metal if your going for a big SS setup.

Do you know if that piston will strip quickly?

              Cheers mate

If the piston was going to strip, it will anyway. It it's metal - it'll eat your gears too.

Best piston to use is the TM one, removing the 2nd and half 3rd tooth.

Not if swiss cheased and the AoE corrected.

Ok well im now buying a Element High Speed Bearing Piston head, but will this fit the piston that comes with my gears?

                    Cheers guys

                      Re: m4 project need advice.

Should do, make sure you get the polycarbonate version - not metal!

You checked the brushing size on your gearbox before buying them 7mm ones?

                        Re: m4 project need advice.

It's metal and unnecessary if you're running only a 9.6v pack.
Id much rather use a more predictable piston where possible, Jag has hit the nail on the head with the TM, use it where you can. Infact if you are concerned about the cost, id rather send you a spare TM I have here than for you to use the included piston!

AoE correction would be ideal as stated, and also what spring will you be running with this?

I've got the stock spring in at the minute which should be pushing 330-340 mate. I think i may go with the TM piston.

                          Cheers mate
