getting scope off carry handle

Recently got a new gun its a good gun and im happy with it.

However I want to change the battery in the scope as its dead but I don't know how to do this I am assuming the battery compartment is underneath the scope and so needs to be taken off the carry handle.

which leads to my problem I can't seem to get in to un do the screw on the scope is there a special technique to doing this or do I just need to keep trying till it wants to unscrew?
