RPD Conversion

I am toying with the idea of converting an AK into an RPD and I want it to look fairly realistic. I'm planning to begin this project once I'm in Hong Kong as it will be much easier to get parts/rifles there. Has anyone got any experience with this kind of thing? and on a side note, does anyone know if my current arms will make it out of the country in a container (Cargo ship)?

I have a wee list of things I will need to do/think about:

-Get an RPD/RPK wood kit (Anyone know what AKs these fit on?)
-Longer barrel (don't understand why they are so expensive)
-Make top receiver more box-like
-Drum Mag :D
-Remove top gas exhaust (think that's what it is) and put some piping below barrel. (more obvious in pic below)

Realistic RPD Conversion

If you want the best quality externals you could convert it out of a real RPD and recycel the inernals out of your A.K
