Twwaaaannnggggg!!!!
29 March, 2012, 17:57
Afternoon all.
This may be the easiest question to answer ever but I was hoping to get clarification...
My L96 makes a god-awful Twang sound when fired.. current set up is...
> Standard Cylinder (until Monday - PDI coming
)
> Ally High Presure piston
> M150 Spring
> Standard Spring Guide
> Laylax Pro adjustable Cylinder head
Cylinder head has a fairly hard rubber pad on the back of it - Would a set of dampers fix this sound?? (maybe the Wii remote mod would work?)
Any help appreciated?
Cheers,
Rich

Re: Twwaaaannnggggg!!!!
Alot of movement on the spring guide due to a bigger spring I think is what causes it. Also put some grease on the spring / spring guide.

Re: Twwaaaannnggggg!!!!
When you swap your cylinder over, clean it all and re lithium grease the lot, and check that the spring guide is as it should be. Have you changed the spring from the factory 450fps (or did you get the old 290 model?) one?

Re: Twwaaaannnggggg!!!!
Theres about 4-5mm of movement around the spring guide and spring. I packed it out with electrical tape to see if made a difference and now there is no twang.
New spring guide (and pot of lithium grease) on order.
Thanks all.

Re: Twwaaaannnggggg!!!!
Just a quick note - the twang will always sound louder to the shooter as you are right next to it. - Down range it won't be so bad.
