  • TM VSR Twist set up.

With my bonus from work finally comming in, I am thinking of what to buy. I had a cheap Chinese sniper rifle and enjoyed using it and was thinking of getting a VSR and having a proper go. I would want to set it up with a Twist barrel and I know hey work best at ~328fps but are there any other upgrades I should look at to get the most out of the rifle.

And what sort of range are you looking at with a twist setup? 60, 70m?

Any advice would be great as I have next to no experience with sniper rifles.

First off, ive recently found out twist barrels arnt produced anymore, so second hand is the only option. I would love to be proved wrong here as im in search of one myself but i cant find one.

Suggest you take a look at the reviews section here and ill pmm you a list of other forums with reviews.

I have a twist barrel, I am really wanting to know if there are any other major upgrades that would be needed. As the FPS will only be at about 330 I don't think anything will need to be reinforced but is there a hop upgrade needed?

Cylinder, cylinder head, spring guide and stopper, piston sears, trigger sears, get a new spring and some barrell spacers, (laylax for good value) pimp it right out
And most probs a hop unit, pdi, madbull or something

You can look at the vsr upgrades section of the forum mate

You haven't really read what I posted or have much of a clue as all you have done is listed all the internal parts. If I was jacking it up to 500 then yes I would need to gut it completely but I am not.

Would some one with a VSR Twist (waht I am going to call it from now on) please tell me what they have done to theirs.

You won't have to reinforce anything for that fps. I had an sp100 in mine firing on average of 312. So i'd go for an sp110. I'd also get a new hop rubber for it. Nineball hop rubber springs to mind.

I was getting 200 feet constantly with my setup. I had the TK twist, ptfe'd hop mod, nineball hop rubber and 2 barrel spacers.

                  My TM VSR-10 G-Spec:
-TM VSR G-Spec (expanding foam filled stock)
-TK Twist Barrel 403mm (with KA Silencer barrel extension)
                  -Laylax Nineball Purple Airseal Bucking
                  -PDI Barrel Spacers x4
                  -PDI Receiver
                  -Laylax PSS10 Teflon Cylinder
                  -Laylax PSS10 Spring Guide
                  -Laylax PSS10 110sp
                  -Laylax PSS10 Red Piston
                  -Laylax PSS10 Sears
                  -Laylax PSS10 Cylinder Head
                  -Laylax PSS10 Damper Pads
                  -EA 4.5-10x40 M3 Leupold Replica w/ 40mm sunshade
                  -KA Harris Style Bipod
                  -DIY Cheek Rest

Now, while not all of those upgrades are 100% necessary, and you could still get good results without them (as Hunter as shown above), there is the matter of consistency. I believe that I had the consistency that I did because I upgraded everything.

I could have easily done this instead and gotten away with getting decent results:
-TM VSR G-Spec (expanding foam filled stock)
                  -TK Twist Barrel 313mm
                  -Laylax Nineball Purple Airseal Bucking
                  -PDI Barrel Spacers x2
                  -Laylax PSS10 110sp
                  -EA 4.5-10x40 M3 Leupold Replica
                  -DIY Cheek Rest

2 threads there that will probably answer any further questions you might have, and you could probably learn a few things while looking for the answers you want.
