VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
25 February, 2011, 12:46
Hi guys, I'm upgrading my VSR-10 and I'm in the stage of upgrading my piston, spring and cylinder.
My current upgrade list is the following:
LayLax Zero Trigger with piston
LayLax Spring guide
LayLax Spring guide stopper
LayLax spring (150SP)
LayLax trigger sears
LayLax piston sears
LayLax Teflon cylinder
Polarstar Cylinder head.
If you know a better list, please post!
I was thinking of a more PDI and Polarstar set up but I wasn't sure what would work.

If you buy the zero trigger it comes with all upgraded sears so you won't need to buy those seperate as well.

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
Laylax is just as good as pdi from my experience,
Though if you can, this is the setup i'd go for...
- noobies m-trigger or laylax zero trigger
- polar star 90degree piston
- laylax spring guide
- laylax 150/170 spring
- polar star cylinder head
- pdi 6.05 430mm barrel
- firefly hop up rubber
- upgraded (black) hop up unit
- noobies anti-blowby rings
- noobies TDC hop arm
- laylax teflon cylinder or pdi palsonite cylinder
Thats basically all you need, however you will find it pretty difficult to get noobies parts, again you may find it trouble getting polar star bits...

That looks great, 90-degree Polarstar pistons are hard to get, I can't find any but I'll have a look. I'm getting Noobie's hop up too. Thanks!

And will I need a LayLax Spring Guide stopper, or just the spring guide?

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
You don't need the spring guide stopper, that comes as part of the zero trigger setup, same goes for the sears, you don't need them.
As for the polar star piston, the laylax one will do, i just suggest if you do ever see a PS one, get it.
Where are you planning on getting noobies hop arm from? It is just the arm, not the whole unit.

Can't link retailers!
And i would say avoid PDI, just go all out laylax
Zero trigger i would say leavethat alone too and just get the upgraded sears to save you some money.
Laylax all the way if you can

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
Don't get that pdi package mate, the piston isn't the greatest, the cylinder is good, along with spring guide, but rest could be better. The zerotrigger is great, but like badas says, you can get away with new sears instead, the zero trigger just gives lighter trigger pull, (if it's like the pdi vtrigger it gives easier bolt pull) and will just have a prolonged life...

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
Thanks guys.
I'm going for the Z-Trigger and piston package with a Laylax Teflon cylinder, laylax 150SP spring, laylax spring guide and polarstar cylinder head.
And for the hop-up, I'm going for the upgraded black hop-up unit with Noobie's TDC arm, Firefly rubber, TF bucking and Noobie's anti blow by rings.

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
@ original post,
A teflon cylinder isn't worth it unless your getting it included in a 2nd hand deal.
Yes the pull back is slightly better but seriously not worth the pricetag, nor is a new cylinder head.
Best VSR i ever owned was a TM VSR with:
# Laylax spring guide
# Laylax high pressure piston with slightly sanded teflon rings for a better pull and fps when fitted in cylinder
# Stock Cylinder
# Laylax 150 spring
# Laylax sears
# Laylax 6.03 tightbore barrel (pro length)
# TM hop rubber
# TM hop chamber
I was hitting 80 metres verry easily and verry accurately
I have never tried the piston dampners but will be doing so by end of march to see if they actually make a difference.
As stated, teflon cylinder worth it if its purchased already with a 2nd hand package, if not then spend the money you save on a TM MK23 socom pistol as a backup or some grenades

Ok I won't bother with the cylinder, I'll just get piston, spring etc.
And for the hop up chamber, should I get the Gold Laylax one from Zero one airsoft?

Re: VSR-10 piston, spring, cylinder area
TDC the clue is in the name. Top Dead Centre, the adjustment is made on the top of the barrel, screwing down directly onto the hop arm, hence the need to drill the top to fit the adjuster screw.
As regards the piston, yes, no and maybe, it really depends on the question and yours isn't one.
