  • vsr range?

well basically, i was using my vsr today and noticed that the hop up was buggered. it could hit a target at around 30meters (which is groundzeros limit) but when sniping across or down a track it could do with more...

any help would be greatfully pleased

I apologies sniperiain (lol), I didn't see this until just now...

          Hi portermush ("MKE"),

Would you mind telling us what you're running at the moment, is it stock?

As TaylorB has already said, the bucking/rubber (if that's what you meant) is the first obvious choice. For me, it's a choice of a Nineball (420> fps) or KA (420< fps) Airseal Buckings, but a lot of other people will also say Firefly.

After that it depends on what you value more, range or accuracy, as the next step is a TB. The tighter you get, the more power you get e.g. 6.00 TB's will add up to 30-40fps, where as 6.08 TB's will add nothing, if anything the fps could drop. Personally, I've found 6.03 to give the best results for rifles hitting between 430-500fps.

Barrel Spacers are next, a good set of 4 MINIMUM (PDI if you can).

And then you are on to power (except for a new cylinder head, but that can wait) - which is answered in my upgrade guide...

          Hope that helps,

          Alex (mj23lj)

            Re: vsr range?

Yeh i meant the rubber. Not the whole hop, although that could be the problem i suppose. Have you tried opening it up and just having a reassemble, something could be in the wrong place? Like a twisted or distorted rubber? Either way have a look it may be obvious once you do so...

              Re: vsr range?

thanks for all the help so far. its a realshock with a 130sp spring init. i am going to get a tb soon, just when i get the money :L. btw i found you upgrade guide really usefull. anyway would it 'slamfire' if i put a 150sp spring in? its just it did with a 170sp spring.

ill take a look tonight at the hop. its just the hop as to be right up to have enough range.

thanks so much guys great help, MKE

                Re: vsr range?

150sp without any other power upgrades, there's a few things that could go wrong with that:
Sears going (and they will go quickly)
Spring Guide cracking or even snapping
                Piston cracking
                Cylinder wear

                  Re: vsr range?

No need to put massive springs in it..

                  Just pop a 120-30 in.

                    Re: vsr range?

the only things that will break if you put a 150sp in are the piston and sears(probably only the pistom sear aswell).
the standard cylinder, cylinder head works fine even with a 170sp and i left a stock spring guide in my old rifle for over 2 years with a 150sp and it never broke as well as a spring guide stopper.
