  • Inconsistant Accuracy

    Hey guys and girls,
Got an SR-25 and a Warrior L96, but plinking in the garden at about 10 meters , aiming at the same point every shot seems to been inconsistant with the bb's going maybe an inch to the left, high, right, low.. on both guns? L96 i believe is standard! but the SR-25 i think has hopup and TB upgrades...
Any ideas or is this normal?!

      Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

Yeah i have, but not sure my method is.. Correct? the cleaning rod is pretty pointless as i just tried poking a sponge through it to clean it , and also tying a piece of J-cloth to it and that was a bit pants as it left fibres int he barrel.
I also put a small piece of sponge in the barrel just after the hop. And but the barrel on and shot it through the barrel ( this proved most effective! ) lol...

        Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

Don't expect your guns to be pinpoint accurate. Airsoft guns, are, very innacurate. Despite what people think...

As for cleaning barrels, try cigarette filters. Get a box, poke them through and fire them out.

Another good method is a show lace, take the barrel out, and put a shoe lace down it. The rest is obviouse.

          +1

Best method i've come across so far - I'd advise turning the hop "off" before you do this.

You could also blast a bit of silicone oil on it aswell, though don't go overboard on it!

            Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

if the bbs are all over the place it could be many factors, but remeber this is a stock gun, and one thats not especialy accurate in the first place

with my fully upgraded vsr i could fire 10rnds through a circle the size of a pound coin at 12m bench rested(the longest i have to test in doors)
how ever i wouldnt expect a stock l96 to get even close to this and especialy not an aeg.

if the rounds are going all over the shop at this range.
it may be down to the fallowing factors.
            un clean gun- barrel/hoprubber
dammaged rubber or mis shaped rubber
            bad bbs or wrong weight
            non zerod scope
bad compresion, resulting in high fps fluctuation
and lastly human error(the slightest movement at that range will put shots well of ,especialy if you scope is zeroed at a longer distance).

i wouldnt silicon the barrel at all, except from when totaly stripping the barrel from the hoprubber.
dry wipe the barrel with a any off the methods above

              Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

hey people! ok well i'v tried using .3's and though it was better its still all over the shop, one inch left then two inches right etc lol.
Ok so firstly, how to i tell if i have bad compression? i just took my piston etc apart and it seems to be Much less powerful now! hope i havent damaged it. i'v cleaned the barrel some more, put insulation tape around it to act as the free-be barrel spacers
What i have noticed whilst looking down the barrel though is there seems to be something in there, right at the start where to hopup kind of is. it looks like an o-ring but its well on the piss, you can only see the right hand side, it looks flakey!
Any ideas on what this is?

                Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

you can check compresion by blocking the barrel with your finger and firing the gun the piston shouldnt go fully forward,if compression is good.
and will finnish its travel when you remove your finger
DO THIS WITH NO BBS IN THE GUN/BARREL

what you see in the barrel is probably the hop rubber,if its canted to one side, the barrel should be able to twist slightly(one of the flaws with the gun),allowing it to be made perfectly in the centre.

                  Re: Inconsistant Accuracy

its not the hopup rubber.. i'v taken that apart and looked, at it. In the hopup unit there is the hopup rubber which fits around the barrel, then a thick black o-ring with a brass washer! and its the thick o-ring part which is fraying just a little bit. And as the barrel squashes up against it, it goes off centre! but i removed the hopup and took it apart yestaday and the end of the barrel around the hopup was filfthy. It took about half an hour to get it clean. Some black streaky gunky stuff! and at ten meters now i can get every shot in a one inch area so its much better now. But i think there has been massive power loss so i'll do the finger thing and check compression. I think i might get a new piston set but keep the same spring. Then i shouldent need to change of the other internal parts?
I'll strip my brothers SR-25 down and do the same with that too. just check around the hopup where all of my dirt was

Thanks mate, i'll reply tonight once i'v tested this!
