Complaints Ref Zero In
10 November, 2010, 11:55
Zero In is a free forum service provided for fun by Zero One. It is
not
however run by, or moderated by, our shop staff. Moderators are recruited via the forum for the benefit of the forum.
It is concerning that we are receiving complaints on a weekly basis to the shop, by forum members thinking that it is us (Zero One) moderating and banning them.
The simple fact is it is not - we do not know anything about it until it is brought to our attention.
We must stress that this is a free service that should be self-supporting. We don't have the resources to dedicate to it, and it comes down to one of two things. It either runs self-supporting, or we close it down.
It is not fair that as a shop we suffer for the actions of others who are not part of Zero One - and that we are perceived as the bad guys when something goes wrong. If we don't know about it, we can't do anything about it!
We pay for the forum hosting as part of our web server package - indeed as Zero In grew we had to upgrade our web server at great expense both financially and the dedication of time for the benefit of the forum. We are happy to do this as a free service for customers of Zero One, and we get a bit of advertising out of it as well. We both win. However if this begins to have a negative impact on our business unfairly, we would loose nothing by closing it down. This is the reality.
All we care about are two very simple rules.
1. Negative Topics: No verbal abuse, slagging off, political hatred or rumour stirring and things along those lines.
2. Competition: No links, discussion or mentioning competition - concerning airsoft products, their accessories and clothing/surplus etc. Discussion of skirmish sites is however fully supported and is the only exception. Discussion of hammers from B&Q also permitted. Common sense required.
That isn't difficult for either users or moderators to cope with. Aside from those things, this is here for fun guys. If you don't like those two very simple rules go to another forum. If you're happy to live with that, enjoy the forum - all of you.
As of today we are going to collect a list of moderators real names and contact details so that anyone moderating on our behalf (so to speak) is no longer a faceless username. I have also asked Rampage to pass on my specific concerns to all moderators regarding some issues we have got to hear about, in an effort to make things less anal and the way any issues are dealt with more consistently.
That is not however a crisitism of our moderators, who do what they do for the good of this forum for free. Sometimes everyone needs to take a chill pill, and hopefully with some clear guidance it will be better for everyone.
The above two rules however are clear and have no tolerance for abuse and will be strictly moderated - anyone found breaking either of these will be removed from the forum immediatly with the full support of the company.
