              Was one of the first weapons used by the SAS.

                all though it was used, it wasn't officially issued to the troops, and the fact it was better than the grease gun... hence why we asked Germans to sort out the SA80

                  Although by the same token, almost any weapon could count. Almost any weapon in WW2 was used by each side, and subsequently the SAS seem to have got their mitts on all manner of weapons that aren't even approximating issue weaponry.

                  Just keeping focus means it has a reason for being, else it's just another 'cool guns' thread.

                    Well the OP does say "used" by Brittish forces as opposed to issued but ok.

                        I dont know about prefering Thompsons, I think it was more a case of what they could lay their hands on at the time, Thompsons included.
