What rifle for my wife?
4 April, 2009, 14:02
I'm getting fed up with my wife moaning about people not taking their hits
OK, I know there are lots of annoying little sods who don't take their hits, but as a general rule they are in the minority. The problem is that she uses my M4 and, while it's got a TB and decent hop, it's only got a relatively short barrel. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the time the shots are falling short. She's very intelligent (she's a dentist after all, but she just doesn't seem to get the differences in AEG performance for some reason.
So, as I have to get a UKARA check in every so often to stay registered, I've decided to buy a brand new gun for her to use. Also, I don't want any hassle with it. If there's a problem, I just want to be able to send it back for an exchange, so no offers of guns please, just recommendations
I don't want plastic bodies, unless the real thing is also plastic, but don't want anything too heavy, or long, as she's only 4'11". If it was me, I'd be thinking of an EBR, but I'm sure it will be too heavy for her. Also, I don't want another M4 or F2000.
Ideally I want to spend under £200 and I don't want to have to do any modifications at all to begin with. My first instinct was to go JG AUG, G3 or Kalash 74.
What do you reckon guys?

women are deadly enough, just get her a rubber knife and let her go stealth.

You should see the kit she gets to play with at work (electro-scalpel anyone!), trust me, you don't want to give her another knife:D

She could try her hand at being a Designated marksman, give her a sniper rifle let her hang back dont worry about stealth and just provide extreme range shooting.

A TM G36C. The mix of metal and ABS on it is same as real steal.
It's light, has a foldable stock and competes with M4 on range. Being a TM, you can rely on rock solid quality.
You can also use a long silencer on it which may help with ballistics, looks cool and does make it sound different. I think a girl holding a G36C with a silencer gives her the 'Nikita' look too
Drop'm out with a low cap and save the environment.

I want her to be able to out range the M4s, that way she might not complain so much!

Re: What rifle for my wife?
Its hard to out range an m4 when the gun you need will be much longer and shes 4 11 tall
I guess an aug is your best choice or any bullpup rifle with a longer barrel

Well, short of a sniper rifle, the SCAR is also relatively light and also has a foldable stock. The SCAR is a quite a nimble assualt rifle. Put an 4X32 ACOG and it too looks very cool. All other factors being equal, you may need to upgrade the stock 330fps to 350fps for an edge on range. The 4x32 maginification works really well when operating the SCAR.
I have an VFC SCAR which materially (e.g.machined CNC aluminum receiver and ABS parts), CNC two tone black/gun metal grey, weight, field strip and working bolt catch is supposed to be the closest to the real steel SCAR. It also has full FN trades and looks much better than say the equivalent black CA SCAR rifle that does not have full trades and its metal receiver colour is not the same as the real steel. The VFC SCAR is also very accurate.
One thing with the VFC is that when you take it out of the box for the first time, you must tighten every single nut and screw before using it. After that it's rock solid. I occasionally throw mine around, get it wet and muddy but it peforms flawlessly. To be honest I treat it as roughly as I have done with a real steal rifle. When I put it away I'm always expecting some damage- but nothing crops up!

Re: What rifle for my wife?
how about a G36K? longer range than a 36c and about 50% of m4's, nice and light.. plastic body like the real deal. yet not overly large.

True BUT, in my opinion only if they're the military version. Dont ask why, but having a rail and putting a "wrong" scope on it doesn't seem right. Besides a decent military AUG (provided you can get hold of one) will outrange most other carbine sized weapons

Re: What rifle for my wife?
Either an AUG or an M14, they are both fairly long, but for the range they are fantastic, out range everything in sight =] and tbh, I'm 4' 5" ish and have a full length M14, and it may look oversized, but not too badly, so it shouldn't be a problem for her...
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer...
