Some site's also insist on you being a member of their site first, which may also include a membership fee

Add to that, for UKARA registration you have to play 3 games in no less than 2 months, and it has to generally be at the same site, or with the same company (as they may have multiple sites)

Being UKARA registered is the safe way. Imagine your on your way to a game site and a local bobby pulls you over for something silly as a bulb gone on your vehicle.
As you have weapons in your boot you might get a little nervous and coppers love seeing suspects squirm, giving them a reason to check your boot.
The fact you are able to show your game site membership and booking to play that day, along with a valid UKARA will save you pain and heartache as my mate was able to do last week.

Re: Ok so I like airsofting. So now I need to buy a gun.

Pain and heartache for what, a boot full of legal airsoft guns? Maybe if he wasn't going to a skirmish and/or wasn't an airsoft player he might have to explain why they weren't two-toned but even then I doubt a cop would give enough of a hoot to listen to the guy swearing he had them from before the VCR or they were gifted to him etc.

If you're a legit airsoft player you have nothing to worry about. Even if you're not, RIFs aren't illegal to own. If you're waving one around in public on the other hand you probably do deserve a bunch of heartache and pain. Whatever, a UKARA is convenient for buying the shiny toys but let's not over-egg the melodrama.

There’s also the fact that your average coper will not have a clue about anything to do with Airsoft let alone the "Mythical UKARA Licence”. The UKARA Scheme is intended to make life easier for members ( Airsoft Retailers ), it is however a convenient aid to proving a valid defence, but that is all.

As I said on FB get along to site ( don’t forget to wear good boots ) rent gear and play. Try as many different guns as you can. You can worry about the rest later. You can PM me if you have any specific questions.

              Nottinghamshire

Let avoid talking anymore on UKARA and move onto makes and models and advice on a good first CQB weapon.

Depends what sort of budget you're allowing yourself?

Aesthetics will vary depending on your tastes and shouldn't really have too much impact but manufacturer and quality control etc. will affect the cost...

A PTW if your flush or a second hand G&P if not.

                    Cqb eh?

We cqbr(or ghk if you can save up more and devilhunter mod the mag's)
                    Npas
rail kit of choice ( I liked the nsr but the lack of real steel slots and missing slots pissed me off)
                    Flashlight
Tune the hop up, takes a while to break in buy it's still a solid bucking.

                    Hk3p pistol of choice
                    We poly mag's
                    TlrH1

If you want an aeg, buy g&p or a tm metal body gun if you can.

I hate them beginner guns and don't hold much value when you want to sell to get something better.

Save and buy something good off the bat that way you can just play and play and play.

As for gear, warrior assault gear is really nice stuff.
Leg rigs or anything below the 1st line is a pain and an annoyance.
I'm not a fan of battle belt systems when you can get belt mounted pouches cheaper.

No point people suggesting £1k AEG's if you want gas and have a budget of £200

I was thinking £200 for my first gun.

Best bang/buck possible at that price point is a G&G combat machine, I'd recommend either the MP5 or one of the 10" barrel M4 variants as they're pretty short so suitable for CQB.

I'm no fan of g&g, I like metal bodies with trademarks from a real manufacturer.

G & G Combat Machine, solid & reliable. Metal bodies are overrated IMO

Maybe for some, for many it's a requirement for peace of mind because plastic breaks before metal.

Trip, oops, guns in half, my metal body guns I have tossed to a teammate and dropped, still one piece.
