They are fairly similar. A gunshot is around 170db ... 170 is typical of an m1 garand being fired from 1m away. A 12g being dropped on the floor near you would therfore be similar. A flashbang produces a sound between 170-180db ... So it is louder, but not by much.
It is worth noting with these numbers that 115 db over short term exposure (long than a single bang) is enough to cause permanant hearing damage. Also, 130db is the pain threshhold in humans. Distance is a key factor in sound pressure levels. Throwing a 12g BFG near someone is far better than throwing it next to them. Permanat hearing damage is unlikely to be caused unless there are a scuession of bangs over several seconds in close proximity.
