I have a bit of a weird thing for tan, but black mainly. Silver/Wood for pistols though.

My M14 had a camo job that I think suits it:

Re: Camo Gun or Black Gun

For Snipers.. Definatly Camo. Well maybe a black gun with Scrim Netting on it.

Assault rifle: Black maybe Tan. M14 are an exception, they can be Camo

                    SMG: Black

                    Pistol: Black or Silver

                    Shotgun: Chrome and Black

Re: Camo Gun or Black Gun

I've seen some very nice camo jobs on sniper rifles in the past. Problem with sprayed up rifles is they tend to either look like....

                      1. Action man weapons!
                      2. You've had to cover a two tone job!

Re: Camo Gun or Black Gun

I can't stand, black guns, but camo only for sniper rifles. I think all assault rifles look better with two colours, black and tan or OD for example.
The worst just black guns for me are g36's and l96's, no offence to those who have or like black guns, but I think they're just too dull and plain. I don't really like the 'used' look either really, apart from kalashnikovs
That said some of the camo paintjobs I've seen are stunning.

if done well, camo on any gun can look the business in my opinion

however, if done badly it can look like your gun was gang bang'd by krylon...
