Custom paint job. Would this work?
9 February, 2011, 14:54
Ok so I have the foundations of this gun sorted but it looks boring in black. After much discussion with my fella this was a paint job we decided would look good. How do you think it would translate onto the actual rifle. Reckon it would look alright?
Anything you would do differently?

Its nice, i think it would work,
i would stick a magwell grip on it ( black ) the colour if dark enough should be brilliant and while not "camo" will work very well!
nice job i look forward to the finished product

Next question...what colour krylon is going to best for this one? Is the olive a nice green colour?

I suppose painting the grip is a waste as your going to have your hand on it most of the time. How are you going to keep the detail around the selector switch: Safe, Semi, Auto, (assuming you want to) will you paint over with a fine brush?

The body I have doesn't have the detail anyway. The words are engraved in so hopefully they will still be visible afte rthe spray. If not it's not too much on an issue

^ That. Otherwise I quite like it. A nice alternative to the Magpul FG.

Yep the pistol grip is staying black. Will have to fight my partner on it mind you cos he wanted it green.
On the subject of custom sparays. I have a metal m16 with a plain body. How easy do you reckon it would be to spray on my own custom logo in white paint with a stencil? My intention was to put my team logo on where the armalite logo would be.
What kind of material would make the best stencil?

The best stencils iv'e used were made of acrylic plastic. Most decent secondarys schools have a Design Tech lab with a cutter im sure they could help you make for the right price

Re: Custom paint job. Would this work?
do you remember the sheets of cellotape you used to have to cover your books in at school?
I used that for multiple layers for my dpm'd type 89
Draw it on the papery side then test it out on a print out from pimped gun website thingy
