I use midcaps as much as possible, that is to say, I might get a highcap or two with a gun on here, which I'll keep until I can buy midcaps for it.

Pretty much the same for me. I carry mostly mids and maybe 1 hi-cap for the SHTF moment
As for how many to carry, well, how long's a piece of string? It all depends on how you play, and how the games run. If it's 30 min games, then you obviously won't need as many as if you were at GZ and planned to be out all day

All depends on the game type.
I have a total of 12 M4 mid caps, which nicely fill my wasatch to the brim, 6 AK mids and soon to have 4 FAL mids. Still building my MP5 mag s up, but plan to have 10 total.
A lot of games i attend have ammo limits, so i carry enough to have 600 rnds with me.
I have a motorised speedloader, which is a great bit of kit.
As to hi caps always feeding well, not the case.

i currently have 10 ares 85 round midcaps 1 high cap and 1 metal 120 round mid cap for my m4/fnc

i own 15 high caps for my augs but i am considering a few midcaps for my sniper augs

i dont rattle when i walk and i usually carry 8 or more high caps at any one time i just move with caution but have a very heavy finger some times.

i have a few so my mates can borrow one of my spare augs if they want to.
