  • Load Out: Is It All REALLY Necessary?

    Hi guys.

I've been looking into actually going airsofting finally (first game in 2 weeks) and although I already have my gun very nicely kitted out there's one thing I'm curious and even a little concerned about - it's the amount some people on here have spent simply to look like the part, with their loadouts.

I was thinking only wearing all black or camo (cheap top and bottoms I'll buy online), a mask which I'll be buying from Z1 and a drop leg holster for my sidearm and maybe something that will hold my mags should do it and really be all that anyone would need. I guess my real question is, is the huge and expensive loadouts for the 'looking like your in a real hot zone' look really all that important?

Obviously all sites are different and no doubt where I'll be going it'll be different (we can't get to Z1 cause too far and I don't drive) but if there's one thing that's similar to all sites it's how far some go to really look the part. Is it wrong to just want to throw on what you have and just get out there to have a laugh and shoot some people? :D

Nope, its exactly what i do. I normally play in dpm trousers, and a tshirt. And i play cqb. Last time i went in a tshirt with a ninja on it. At the end of the day, you play in what you want, and what works for you. I find that i dont need fancy webbing or load carrying equipment, simply because i can keep 2 mags in each pocket, pyros in the back, and thats all i need. Speed reloads arent really an issue in airsoft because of the capacity of mags and the very nature of the game (i use mids, for the record)

Depends on how you want to play, having the kit does help with concealment etc, and tbh a certain auction site will sell you british dpm trousers/shirt/jacket for £20 so it really is not expensive.

Personal taste has a lot to do with what people wear, some like tiger stripes, others multicam etc.

I have to admit though on my local sites the one who are not wearing it get hit first, much easier to see people who are not kitted up

I play in no specific loadout.

If it wasn't for the fact I use midcaps (most of the time) I'd just have a belt for my holster. If you are planning on using Hicaps you can get away with just Combats, as you only have to carry a few mags.

i play in any random mismash of different camos i feel like
i either have britishwebbing on if i'm carrying mags or just a single pouch on my belt
its easier to play in i find than a plate carrier and is more comfortable if its not needed

The one bit in a load out that is very useful is your webbing, as this means you can carry and access things with ease on you. Plus helmets are fun, especially when you get shot there. (ting!)

Re: Load Out: Is It All REALLY Necessary?

I've been playing for a whole year now (UKARA renewal V. Soon) And i've just had everything I need for a days skirmish on a belt system!

Mainly because I don't like vests and..
It's all I need for casual skirmishing!!

I've only just got round to putting together an actual impression (Russian Cold War) But that's only because I want a certain look. But to come to a conclusion, No.

Re: Load Out: Is It All REALLY Necessary?

Most of the time, I wear a basic vest so I've got somewhere to put a can of gas, because I tend to use a gas shotty as my primary. When I get round to finding a belt mounted holder for one, I won't even bother with that, just DPM jacket and trousers.

You'll soon find that a lot of players are just (if not more) interested in how they look!

Re: Load Out: Is It All REALLY Necessary?

I get kitted p, but its mainly because of the style of play i do. Because i likeusing mid caps, over high caps, i need to be able to carry a lot of magazines. But just because some people spend a fortune, doesnt mean you have to! Jeans, boots and a t-shirt is just as good as the guy with the helmet, goggles, multi cam, full rig, drop legholster, knee pads etc etc. I personally just use normal dpm then stick a chest rig on top. You can find loads of cheap kit online and in surplus stores, but you dont have to bother if you dont want to! But i reckon that after a while youll realise that you want to be a geardo too!

Re: Load Out: Is It All REALLY Necessary?

I`ve tended to go with camo jacket, trousers, cap and a simple belt order of mag pouch, waterbottle+pouch and supplementary w/b pouch to carry tools/vinyl poncho/cereal bars etc. Its all I`ve used since I started out. It seems to work well as its not heavy enough to be noticeable and is useful on large sites as you`ve got enough kit in case the gun packs up or it suddenly pours with rain. Plus I don`t have to struggle carrying hordes of gear into the safezone unlike some people who seem to take everything but the kitchen sink with them.

                        Thanks guys. :D
I'll be using mid caps as well (I prefer them over hi-caps too) and I've git something like 17 of them. :/ I'll look into grabbing a few extra bits online in some places and see what I end up with.

For some people, collecting kit is as much of the hobby as the actual skirmishing

agree with you there fizzy, i must have about 6 sets of kit and they all still need stuff buying untill they are complete - never happy with them

same as the guns too, i only skirmish with my PTW but i still have lots of guns and will get more

I've got a fair bit of kit, but tend to wear the same loadout over and over. I've got an Eagle plate carrier gathering dust, but I can't bring myself to sell it
Similar situation with my guns, I actually use my CA M249 as a loaner for people
