Spraying a two tone gun
17 January, 2011, 16:40
Hey everyone, my friend is not UKARA registered and has a two tone gun, he was wondering if it's legal to spray it?
Don't you just have to have UKARA to buy guns.
So, can he spray it or not?

Re: Spraying a two tone gun
If he is over 18 and skirmishes regularly (3 times+ over 2 months)
Yes he can.
If not, no.
Anywho creating an ex two-tone gun will down its value when re-selling, better to replace parts if he matches the criteria above, or just sell it and buy a RIF, if he matches the criteria above.

Re: Spraying a two tone gun
No.
He has a two tone for a reason.
If he was eligible for a defence then he wouldn't need a two tone. So spraying it without some form of defence would be manufacturing.

If you don't have a defence, you're breaking the law.
Actually, even if you
do
have a defence, you're still breaking the law. Your defence is just that - your "but m'lud I skirmish so I have a defence" - you can still be brought to court.

Re: Spraying a two tone gun
Honestly I don't think you'd be brought to court unless you're running around the streets with a RIF or you're bragging to a police officer.
Not worth it though, don't spray a two tone unless you're registered. You may aswell just wait until you're UKARA registered and can buy yourself a nice new RIF. No hassles, no danger to our sport

What panoptes said - true.
Your defence is only 'valid' when the court says so.
So technically this forum is full of criminals!

Re: Spraying a two tone gun
I punch you in the face and get taken to court. In court I prove that you threw the first punch, so I have the defence that I was acting in self defence. Punching you in the face is always illegal, but there are certain circumstances where the law allows you to break that law.
Buying, importing, manufacturing etc a realistic imitation firearm is always illegal, but if we have a problem with the police/courts, there is a defence available to us that means under very limited conditions we can break that law and not get punished for it.

Re: Spraying a two tone gun
Exactly as above,
i have been airsofting every week for years, buy and sell on a regular basis, in middle of opening my own shop
but i have never been UKARA registered
UKARA is a tool used by retailers to cover their back
