Re: Ermm this is no way near legal
Well the IP is UK registered to an address in Hampshire and the Phone number is routed through a service and diverted and will not accept calls from phones with the number withheld. Also his Gmail accounts are easily removed with no trace.
So in short. Tell every one you know to stay away from this joker and wait for the authorities to do nothing about it.

It advertises that he will not sell to anyone in Hampshire because of problems with sales around there. Hmm?!? it smells even more fishy

Most likely because when you get the customs bill you weren't expecting, or you find UKBA/HMRC have destroyed it because you're not entitled to own it, yet you were never made aware, you're likely to go round and 'ave a word'
Just to add, the business address is 6 Central Road, Fareham, which looks like a house on an old council estate
More to add, company is registered to MATTHEW STEWART HARROWER

I have more.
Apparently it's been set up recently as a "dodgy copy" of a legit "buyers' collective" that operates in Essex.
May not last long...

If the guys in Essex don't know already, you might want to point that out

I have. They're the ones that told me.
They gave me more, but it names people who may not have anything to do with it beyond knowing those involved, so I won't add that detail.
They'll be in contact with someone about it soon.

Re: Ermm this is no way near legal
It seems to me its just one guy running the show, Mr Harrower, and he seems to boast that "if it fires any sort of projectile" then he can supply it? how true that is i dont know.
But ive looked over his twitter feed and between his advertising and perving on women he has been tagging Stephen Fry whilst boasting about being able to supply guns.
After reading the thread back again i felt bad for the guy, this lasted about 30 picoseconds, the more i read up about him the more he comes across a complete douche!

BTW, in case you're wondering, the Essex coop I mentioned are UKARA members (actually listed on the UKARA site), and I've bought from them on a few occasions.

That website burns my eyes. I think anyone with half a molecule of sense would stay away from it, but who knows what people will do in order to circumvent ukara and a valid defence.

Re: Ermm this is no way near legal
They have a facebook page. Maybe we should start trolling
Just checked it, they only have 1 "like" & that's probably the muppet that own's the "business".
Also the way he describes how this epic business had problems with their previous supplier makes me think this bloke's a few sandwiches short of a picnic, either that or he's 12 years old...

Hmm... only down the road from me.
I'm not one to cause an issue by going over there, but I might bring it up with the local plod. I'm sure they won't take to kindly to someone advertising to import replica firearms.

Re: Ermm this is no way near legal
Double post I know, but I suppose the crux of the matter is this:
Yes, a person buying from/through him without exemption is committing an offence, but is the retailer also committing an offence by not providing adequate safeguards against illegal imports?
The retailer would in theory fall under VCRA Sect. 2, Sub Sect. 36, Article 1:
(d) he brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to
be brought into Great Britain
By facilitating the import of the RIF he is "causing one to be brought into GB".
However would he perhaps be exempted by VCRA Sect. 2, Sub Sect. 37:
(3) It shall also be a defence for a person charged with an offence under section 36
in respect of conduct falling within subsection (1)(d) of that section to show
that the conduct—
(a) was in the course of carrying on any trade or business;
It is for trade afterall.
Perhaps he can be caught out by:
(4) For the purposes of this section a person shall be taken to have shown a matter
specified in subsection (1) or (3) if—
(a) sufficient evidence of that matter is adduced to raise an issue with
respect to it; and
(b) the contrary is not proved beyond a reasonable doubt
By failing to provide any way of verifying a customers defence, are they facilitating illegal importation? I'm not sure...
