  • Bullet4MyEnemy's YouTube channel

Nice to see there's a proper section for this, surprised there aren't more threads for it if I'm honest.

Anyway I've had a Contour ROAM HD for about 5 months now and I've been recording every game I've been to since. I think I have a fairly original approach to filming and editing, so I'd appreciate the feedback if you wouldn't mind giving some videos a watch.

If you like them then subscribe for more and check out the Facebook page too, I only just set it up today to celebrate being on the cusp of 100 subscribers.

Scoutthedoggie-like fame is my goal! All help reaching it will be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, that's enough babbling, here's the links - YouTube channel:

To be perfectly honest mate I would ditch the commentary, also if I were you i'd edit the videos to achieve two things:
    a) So they're not kicking around 20 minutes long, most people won't want to watch videos that long.
    b) So there's more actual action shown, making the videos more interesting.

The footage is other wise good, keep it up!

      Re: Bullet4MyEnemy's YouTube channel

Looking at the analytics the average viewing time is only around 6 minutes, that's why I thought I'd start doing the kill streak/highlight videos. The longer ones do have links in the description so people can skip to interesting sounding bits though.

Uploading full games was meant to show people what it's really like when you go airsofting, but I guess it can be pretty dull at times, that's why I started the commentaries, 'cos talking through the boring bits at least gives people a reason to still watch.

Cheers for the feedback though, do you say to ditch the commentary because it's awkward to listen to, or badly done? Or just because it's irregular and no one else does it? Any particular reason?
It does put me slightly out of my comfort zone recording them, but it's easier to say the things I'd write in, aloud, than going through the whole video labouriously editing it with text. But then I guess having shorter videos would solve that issue too.

      Thanks for taking a look.

Yeah I think you've just got work on the assumption that the average Youtube viewer has a pretty short attention span (Providing you're trying to get well know like Scout) so shorter more punchy clips would be more effective.

With regard to the commentary I wouldn't say it was badly done, just it's fun to hear the sounds of the various rifles, pyro and shouting of players etc (Although I did enjoy your quip about the red 'stormtrooper' being pretty trigger happy with his grenades )

Cool beans haha, yeah, I try and make it fun to watch/listen when I can.

          So in summary:
          - Shorter videos
          - Less/no commentary
          - More action

I might start cutting clips more liberally, literally just going for the kills, firefights and maybe the odd standoff, I'll only record a commentary to introduce and sign off the video and I'll aim to keep the length under 10 minutes.

Having a structure to aim for might make it all feel a bit more hands on and rewarding, I think up to now the only people that have been all that bothered about the videos are the people that are in them haha.

          Cheers for the tips.

Yeah that sounds pretty spot on mate, having a commentary as an intro/outro will be a nice personal touch.

            No problem matey

              Re: Bullet4MyEnemy's YouTube channel

So I thought I'd come back here with an update, I've got around 50 videos now, just got to 10k views and around 200 subs. Trying to grow the channel, so if you've got any time to take a look and leave me some feedback, I'd appreciate it. I think I've built on the comments made above and improved the videos a fair bit, especially in terms of keeping them more action focused and shorter in length.

Here's a selection of what I think are my better, more recent videos:

An older one - some CQB tactics broken down, talking about my thought processes. 7 kills, 4 on 1 at one point.
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av6ldWfd8d8

I recently started using Final Cut Pro X for my editing, this is my first attempt. Got a mate to shadow me as a Scoutthedoggie style, 3rd person camera man, works nicely for hearing and seeing what the enemy are up to, as well as what I'm doing at the same time, take a look:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlSnBTdyQlM

5 kills on the fort defence, including one perfectly led on a moving target, as well as a slow mo explosion:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igo-29vtoQ8

Another video with my mate playing camera man, for another double perspective video, this time on a more open, paintball style area. I get in a very close encounter scrape, get a grenade kill, all seen from 2 angles at once:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLse2DLD6uw

Some CQB pistol work in the fort, including a slow motion pistol kill at the end:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbHX4Yrvvdc

And last video for now, my last upload, an 11 kill cut from every game of the day, ending with a mate doing a run past everyone as we unload into him on full auto. He's covered in balloons because it was his 22nd birthday lol, t'was a good laugh. The video doesn't show it all too well, but there were that many BBs flying at him that I was like witnessing that scene from 300. "I shall run past you all, covered in balloons... In the shade" lol:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0CT4OmsPEk

Let me know what you think, cheers.

Also, don't forget to check out the channel for my other videos, leave me some comments on the videos, like, share all that jazz, and subscribe if you want to see more in the future. I generally upload a video every week.
I've got footage from about 4 or 5 different sites I think, so check that out if you want some variety, I'll also be at the NAE this year and hopefully Ai500 as well.

              Cheers,
              Ed.

Finally figured out how to actually add the videos in embedded format lol, only took me about 5 months haha.

At the start of August I visited Anzio for the first time, and I've been uploading the 5 videos I got over the last few days, there are 3 up so far, the next two will be uploaded over the next couple of days, so come take a look on my channel if you enjoy the ones posted here:

The 5th Anzio video can be found on my channel, or on the more general airsoft videos thread - I don't want it to steal my 1 or 2 video spots in this thread.

I've also done a few videos at Skirmish Airsoft recently, where I took to high caps for the first time in ages, to see if I could put my skills to the test that I learned from running real caps for so long, managed to kill at least 50 people across 4 games, totalling about 35 minutes. So have a look on my channel for those, the most recent one is here:

And I think this is the best one:

                          1. Watch this guy's videos.
                          2. Like them.
                          3. Subscribe.

                          They're that good.

I'd say you now have a nice mix of fast paced, edited videos, and your longer commentary ones. I like them both equally. You have a nice selection of kit, and you go to a variety of venues. Couldn't ask for more!
The one avenue I might suggest you think about is 3rd person stuff. Ask a friend to film you, or spend time filming others. But that's just my preference. Many viewers prefer 1st person.

                          Keep it up mate.

It is indeed at Skirmish Airsoft in Mansfield, have you been before? It's my regular site.

Cheers, LaughingMan, I've had a mate ghost me in a couple of videos, I might work on a 3rd person rig at some point, I've got a mate who recently made one... May have to borrow it at some point.

Anyway though, I've been posting a lot of my videos in the more general airsoft video thread for a while now, not wanting to post them all here as well in case they get removed for double posting or something.

So here's my most recent one from F&O's Balderstone School site, recorded on the 22nd September. There's already a video live from there on my channel, and there's a funny moment's compilation next on my upload list. (Every Friday at 18:00)
