Sales threads
4 February, 2011, 07:56
Just wondering if others have had any similar issues as myself and patience is wearing thin.
1) people offering you 75% of your sales price after 30 minutes of posting the sale
2) people posting saying i can get these for certain price so will offer this amount and vice versa where they list item for more than you can buy brand new in uk. What is the need to post in the thread - just pm them and try to work out a deal
3) buying an item and then saying if I pay extra £1 or £2 can you send recorded post, twice I have done this and both times items received by normal post, I'm an honest person so confirm receipt however what's to stop me from saying not received. Do people actually know what recorded delivery is?
Probably a bit of a rant so apologies but wondering what issues others have had with sales

Re: Sales threads
On the offers thing, i dont mind people making them as long as they are not ridiculous, as that shows interest, and i do hate it when people want more than new, i state it to then unforunately as it needs to be addressed its a second hand item, i never price my stuff high. i dont think sales thread should be auto locked neither, a bump from a question is always good

On the offers thing, well if you dont ask you dont get, ive had some totaly stupid offers on my kit i must say mostly over PM, but a nice "thanks but no thanks" or an increase on the silly offer is enough, if your loosing your patience with this sort of thing then maybe you should advertise elsewhere.....ohhh i forgot its the same on other forums too!!
The prices...again with the prices!!
If i want to advertise my £180 gun for £200 i bloody will!!
Who knows i might be lucky and have a fresh forum user snap it up or get an offer knocking me down a little.
Personaly when i advertise a gun i always add a little ontop for the inevitable "give you £x for it mate" that comes along.
If users dont like the offered price they will make an offer, if the seller wont budge his item will probably be in the clasifieds section untill time ends but....its there item to price!!!

Re: Sales threads
I've made offers via pm that have been laughed at only for the same people to come back to me a week later, after they've had no interest, and offer me the gun at less than I originally offered. So it would seem the offer wasn't that bad after all huh. Go figure.
It's a forum with all that goes with it and it's just a part of forum sales life.

If you see that in any thread, report it and it'll get removed. It's against the forum rules so will be dealt with
I think the dumbest thing I see in sales threads is people posting contact information such as e-mail address and/or phone number. On a public forum? Hello?
Another one is making offers in the thread rather than PM. Again, hello, common sense anyone? If anyone else is interested, they're going to see your offer and simply offer £1 more
I could go on all day :p

Re: Sales threads
I've offered less than the asking price a few times and have had a few rude replies
One guy then came back to me 2 weeks later and asked if I still wanted them at the price I offered. I said no and offered even less which he reluctantly took - shouldn't have been rude and his stuff was over-priced in the first place (which probably put other people off buying it).
Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.
I agree that everything should be done via pm so not to ruin the sales thread. OP's can ask for any price they want, whether they get it or not is up to the person willing to part with the cash.

i agree man what i personally find annoying is the guy offering his dboys m4 as like for like swap for my top of the range nearly 400 pound gun =/ really annoying to be honest also on the swap topic it annoys me when you specifically put "NO SWAPS PLEASE" and you get 100 messages offering to swap =@

Re: Sales threads
I get silly offers all the time. I'm just polite and say sorry that's too low. sometimes if its selling slowly it will end up going for the silly amount offered. It just depends whether someone desperately wants what your selling or whether they are just seeing if they can get a cheeky bargain.
Half the time I get bored of the item sitting on the floor in my room so sell it for the first reasonable offer lol

It always happens. Here's one I got a while back. I was advertising a high end custom built M16 for £250 and said I'd take a TM 1911 as P/X:

Did anyone else get a PM from some guy the other day offering his USP or something? I think he basically worked his way through the forum members list
