Re: non posting in sales threads
it was me who backed out of the trade with tisane and i explained why the gun i was trading stopped working when i tested it before packing it i even lost £15 as i booked a collection by interlink, wasn't my fault it stopped better that i admit it than send out a faulty product, i apologised for the time.
i had my defense on my profile as well.

Re: non posting in sales threads
It seems too "discreet" now..a seller could sell something and then go off line for some time and another buyer may be trying to contact him.
It's much easier to see if dealing is going on out in the open.
I had more messing about with my last sale than any of the others before it changed including 2 "definate" purchases.
..as as we know if it comes to a dispute..etc,etc...(whinge)..

Umm, nope, it hasn't. The amount of sales spam we used to have to remove was ridiculous, much of it from people who have been around long enough to know better. I don't know exact figures, but I'd say reported posts on classified threads have dropped by >50% and the amount of 'crap' I have to deal with on classifieds.
Now you have near to nothing to do! You agreed to do the job, so why moan when you get work. rules are broken throughout life, we'd have no jobs for police if rules werent, and lots of other professions would suffer. So like it or not, removing spam is in your job description, no matter how much.
Although unpaid, you had to agree to help.
If im honest some people would be happy to help moderate the forum. you lot see it as hard work clicking a few buttons. Try coming and doing a days work with me on the fishing boats.

1) Nothing to do? Hardly! People are still bumping threads before 3 days, posts still need merging and people still don't read the rules regarding sales templates. It's not about having nothing to do, but we can now react more effectively
2) Who's moaning? Only person I see moaning is you. All I've done is answer people's questions on why the decision has been made
3) There's no job description. This is forum moderation, I'm not Chairman of HSBC
4) Again, who sees it as hard? It's only as hard as 'you lot' make it by not following simple rules, and you're no exception. The 'hard' bit is getting grief for not responding at the speed of light because a thread's been derailed or whatever. Try working on the boats all day and then coming home to abusive PMs because you haven't done your job (which we don't get paid for, and I don't see as my 'job') because some 13 year old is trying to buy a RIF

Re: non posting in sales threads
theres points to be argued both ends mate, but simple fact is, if you cant quite handle the fact that rules are goling to be broken, then either ask if you can back out, or just carry on doing it, whether you keep on telling people about the rules etc they are going to be bent. Wasnt having a rant at you mate, but every assistant mod etc says about rules all the time, how many people actually read them and abide by them gets far outweighed by the people who bend them. Maybe more classifieds assistants are needed im not sure, but half the moderators on here, are never actually online. You and maybe 3 or four others are an exception, as i see some of you alot, but i feel some are wasted spaces, that could be filled by people willing to help more frequently.
id be more than willing to help then maybe i can comment with more open eyes about your 2nd "job" lol

Re: non posting in sales threads
Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I accept rules will be broken, although I'm sure everyone of the Admin/Mod/Assistant team do. However, if there's an easy way of stopping some of those rules being broken on a large scale, and the majority of the forum agree it's a good idea, would you not take that opportunity?
What's that saying, "you can please some of the people some of the time..."

Re: non posting in sales threads
Actually, it's just made us grumpy about the stealth bumping and blatent '23 minute' (I believe that's a record) bumping that goes on, as we now notice it more

Re: non posting in sales threads
yeah i didnt think about the noticing it more part, but im not going to lie, ive had some waffle mags up for a while now. Now the reason i say we need more classified assistants;
is because i actually got away with stealth bumps for a while on that, also asked for it to be cleaned (on the thread) and nothing, ive also seen alot more bumps etc, theres not enough of you IMO. But hey ho, neither me nor you call the shots on what the forum needs, so we got to put up with what we have... afterall its freeeeeeeeeee!

Well, we have to be grumpy gits about something
Stealth bumps do get missed. Hopefully less so now. Your thread is a couple of weeks old, so is pre thread lock, but we're now watching you

Re: non posting in sales threads
When I said lock, i meant close, but you could start your listing title, Not closed: or something maybe..........
I can see how it makes life easier for mods but surely this forum is for the benefit of users not ease of life for the moderators?
I've found all mods I've dealt with to be very helpful and friendly, I'm not moaning at them. I just think if there's too much work, share the load with more mods rather than cutting posting privileges?
The last time I looked at the poll, it was 55% for 45% against. That, in my book, is not a large majority.
Obviously nothing is going to change now so I'll save my keyboard the wear.

One thing I want to say...
Someone was selling a battery for £20 ish. On a shop you can buy it for £13. Without being able post on that thread people will buy it and I believe that is wring and almost classed as a scam. Just my opinion.

I don't agree with that at all. Sellers have a right to sell to whoever they want. Just because someone had Pm'd 1st dib's doesn't mean jack sh*t. Usually it's a time waster that does it who has no intention of buying the item.
If someone with 0 feedback offers to buy it first, and 5 minutes later someone with 50 feedback offers to buy it who do you think i'm going to let buy it?
Also when someone says they'll buy it and you give them your paypal, but they don't pay up. And when you P.M them a few hours later saying i've sold it to someone else, they moan at you. What's that all about? If i sent you my details, and you said you'd pay right away. That's what i expect you to do. Specially if your online for all that time inbetween.
Rant not aimed at anyone here, just want to get it off my chest. As these forums are becoming a joke with all time wasters and scammers

They can put it at what price they want and I'm sure someone spamming their thread wont make them reduce their price. They may of paid more then £20 for it and as such are not doing anything wrong. If you don't like the price, try negotiate or don't buy it.
