Why not use the issued chin strap?
You're going to be safe and sound in an airsoft site, not exactly gonna be hot enough to melt the whole helmet to your head is it?

It would save you the hassle of cutting up tyres, etc just saying!

Well that's a new one? Using the chin strap to wrap around the base of the helmet???
