From left to right I think 1 & 3 nailed it. The rest of the guys look like PMCs to me. It's a fine line to walk.

I get what your saying about the fine line but for me, from left to right number 2&5 look the best. Haha

Did some searches and picked up these images of Syrian/Middle Eastern rebel fighters. Couple of things that I notice right away that can be drawn together to a rebel look
- Headbands/Bandanas. Possibly Religious/Nationalistic. Potentially use British flags for this.
- Casual but utilitarian clothes.
- Some surplus tac gear
- Shoulder bags or backpacks, especially if the fighter has no load bearing gear.
- Bullet belts.
- Nonspecific/Mixed camo
Whilst this would look cool, I see possibly a few different groups of Militia. Due to the nations different ethnic diversity.
So without sounding racist you may end up with a group that looks like an EDL/football hooligan meet whilst another would be the hoodies and bmx crews of South London Gettos whilst another could be a mix of people of all races with religion being the common binding factor in the group.

Re: idea: The British Rebel Fighter - What would they look like?
These large-scale civil unrests and uprisings don't just "spring up overnight". There would be a core group responsible for driving this sort of uprising, and thus planning and preparation for upcoming war would have been taking place for months (if not more). Links would long have been forged with complicit governments, regimes, organisations and individuals (no doubt with various agendas of their own) in order to obtain stockpiles and supplies of small arms and weapons, ammunition, kit, communications equipment and food. This would have been smuggled in and distributed appropriately in order to prepare for the outbreak of war, and numbers of rebels trained in their use.
Quite what weaponry and kit would be available would obviously depend on the background of such suppliers, but one could speculatively expect weaponry of Russian, Eastern European, South East Asian and possibly even Brazilian origin, but also G3s, M16s and suchlike which are are in use in a number of nations. Of course, as has already been mentioned plentifully in prior posts, surplus UK military kit and weaponry would probably be sourced and stockpiled both in the run up to, and after the overt outbreak of civil war. There would almost certainly be specialist input into IEDs, and the most effective use of such tools.
As others have said with regards to clothing, camouflage and insignia, this would probably vary from area to area according to need.

Re: idea: The British Rebel Fighter - What would they look like?
I think its important to distinguish that different people from different parts of the UK would wear different things.. for example, in the country, I highly doubt anyone would turn up in trackies looking like a football hooligan, its more likely to be surplus/outdoor/hunting and even some tweed clothing. On the other hand someone from the inner city will more likely be in urban clothing as they are less likely to have outdoors type clothing.

Re: idea: The British Rebel Fighter - What would they look like?
This is my take on this. You can brake it down into 3 stages.
Stage 1: early days. This is where it just kicked off
Unifrom: What ever you like, I guess normal early day clothes with maybe some DMP because of who easy it is to get (going on the bases that it's a uk rebellion)
Weapons: Anything cheap and easy to get, most likely hunting rifles robbed
Stage 2: The hight of the uprissing
Uniform: Mostly robbed or looted British army/police gear with a pos set uniform in some places with some elite units but mostly still every day or DMP with UKAF add ons
Weapons: Mostly SA80, L119 or Hunting Rifles with some other weapon that has been brought from else where, side arms would be anything and everything.
Stage 3A:Ending of the War. This if the Rebels are winning. A system of rank, standard and order has been set up
Uniform: More set Unform, Most likely US Woodland, Flecktarn or some new type of camo (seeing that the army would have DMP and MTP, you wouldn't want to look the same) with some type of molle set up
Weapons: Same as the army (SA80, L96, L119, etc)
Stage 3B: Ending of the war. Rebels are lossing. Only the die hards are left, everyone else is dead or had enough and gone home
Uniform: Light wieght and well camo, anything that is easy to hind and run in
Weapons: Anything British army or easy to get ammo for

l119's? doubt it...
armed police weaponry will be the most common with military hardware being used by the lucky few.

A good film to watch for this would be the most recent Day of the Triffids, the one with Eddie Izzard, as that has a rebellion aspect to it and also shows in a good way how and what weapons people would come across.. the main ones being the ones used by ARU so MP5s and G36s

but if you look at Ireland from 1916 (I think, feel free to put me right if wrong) the 'Irish rebel' where armed with sporting rifles and personsal side arms and as time went on, they took weapons of the police and even later they where attacking army groups sent to hot spots to help the police and taking their weapons and ammo, and seeing the army was nearly put on the streets of london in the roits I can see the military hardware is posiable for british rebels to get their hand on as the fighting goes on

As mental as this sounds, pretend im a British politician for a second or the mind set of one...because they are all mental.
But they would probably try and "under arm" their government forces for that exact reason, not to allow rebels to obtain TOO much hardware to the point where it could become an issue for government forces.
So they would be issued with the bare minimum.
