Rainproofing AEGs
18 April, 2012, 19:07
How do you do it?
I'm not looking to drop an AEG in a swimming pool, I am just asking how you make sure the rain stays out of the important bits

^the above made me laugh (or as some may say LOL)
The aqua stop is fantastic use it on all my torches to good result, there is a video on YT of someone using it on an AEP and it still work under water.
so it should make most things rainproof...

Never had any issue with my guns when its wet - apart from the odd spot of rust! Had my guns absolutely drenched with no ill effects whatsoever

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
Over 7 or 8 years I've been playing I dont think I've ever had to water proof any of mine. Granted they've all had batteries inside of them and no exposed wires but still a rather good idea using the Aquastop seems like a good plan.
Nice one X-Ray.

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
If i know its going to get wet then i spray everything metal with silicone spray, that way if you forget or are too tired to clean your guns its not too much of a problem
I suppose it works the same as that aqua stop stuff

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
Being that I am using a G36 I dont think rust is an issue. I was more concerened about the motor connectors, selector plate and battery connectors getting damp...

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
Without trying to bring the tone down what about using the spray on condom stuff thats popular in germany? Silly as it may sounds but it would work just as well in theory.

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
How would I protect a box mag fed GPMG from rain?
Rust is no drama
I just don't want the internals and the mag to rape themselves!

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
THe aqua stop stuff is designed to work on everything including internals from what I have heard so in theory you could waterproof a motor/boxmag, I know that sounds far fetched but I have heard people saying this stuff really works that well

Re: Rainproofing AEGs
I guess anything aquaphobic or waterproof would work... I have no idea how you would keep water/damp out a mag! Maybe rubber o rings stretched round any openings?
