Re: steel slide stops eating plastic slides - when i initially bought my G18c the slide locked about 15mm further forward than it should have done - shortly after that (200 rounds or so of green gas) the slide started exploding when you pulled the trigger. It was a great party trick - slide went back while the spring guide went forward!
