Re: What would you say your airsoft experience level is?

I've been doing this fun game for 12 years now - when I started some people were still using JAC air M16's!! Incredible that everyone left air to go electric, and now back to air lol.

I have stupid ammounts of kit and have driven six hours for a weekender - the south coast to Norwich! I even brought a 4x4 as my family car to use it for skirmishing... Addicted? Yes probably. I'm always clucking for gucci kit!

16 years ,played at sights from Portland to Melton mobray ,build custom guns from raw steel up and service and upgrade internals for virtually everybody I play with ,done walk on days ,modern milsim ,filmsim and WW2 airsoft and just recently was part of the planning/running(we don't have marshal's as such in WW2 airsoft just generals and honesty) team for our first WW2 airsoft event "operation clipper" .
I get shot a lot but in the WW2 scene a good theatrical death makes it worth while plus while being an atmospheric corpse you get a chance to watch the action ,one of my most enduring memory's of airsoft was walking back to respawn at a ww2 game and stopping to watch my team mates ,German infantry that day , assaulting on mass and over running the Russian position at the crest of a hill ,just awsome,it was like being there or in a film.
I don't own or run a site but I'd love to one day.

If your going on your criteria, then I am very experienced. However!, I feel that in hind sight we are only ever "experienced". This is because airsoft is always evolving and developing.
For example, a few years ago, mosfets became available. At the time I knew nothing about them, but I now do. But since then something else new has appeared for me yet to experience. so I constantly feel that I'm learning at this sport, no matter how many years I've spent playing it.

Interesting (although something I was expecting) is that currently the majority see themselves as "Very experienced".

Now, it could be that many of the less experienced airsofters either haven't seen this poll, or are afraid to vote, but considering the amount of stupid questions that get asked repeatedly, gun sales that state "easy fix" which clearly it isn't, or else it would have been fixed, the lack of knowledge around the VCRA restrictions and people confusing UKARA and the VCRA, to name but a few, I think there's a fair few fibbers out there!

Re: What would you say your airsoft experience level is?

Only 60 people have voted and my guess is your more likely to get comments from those who are old hands .
To be fair I should revise my status down a bit as I don't take every opportunity to get to a game , I only go at most once a month and rarely to open days any more ,it has to be Ww2 or a themed game ,pistol day or VN game at least to get my interest these days .

Re: What would you say your airsoft experience level is?

I guess I fall under the somewhat experienced catagory... my real steel gun knowledge is pretty good, I can name nearly every gun I see in movies and TV, except revolvers as I really couldn't give a darn... except the Pentagun. If someone made an airsoft version I'd be all over it.

I wonder how this would correlate to a second poll of, How good at Airsoft do you think you are?

Actually that would be the worst thing on this earth, let's not do that.

After 16 years I'm not sure I'm that good , I certainly get shot a lot ,once in a while we all get "war god" days .I once proposed the idea of one on one challenge day's ,split the field into multiple sections where two play each other and two waiting players Marshal ,everyone gets a rental gun to even the field but the idea got shot down as its not "team based" .

After 15 years, i can say my level is decreasing, especialy last 5 years. The arrival of cheap chinese aeg & gear, 10-15 kids, number of airsofters increased but quality - fun factor is lower and lower. In my opinion this wide spreading caused more bad than good. Worried about not causing harm to some kid, its not so entertained for me anymore. sadly...

I was in a very similar situation between 2005-2007; I'd gone off to sea and had little to no internet access; with maybe time for two skirmishes a year *if lucky* and so I just dropped out of the loop of the whole airsoft scene; just as chinasofts were starting to come on the market.
The massive increase in manufacturers and variation in quality between them all was mind boggling and so I basically just shut down after buying a CYMA AK74 (Which I still have) and avoided the whole internet side of airsoft until around 2009 or so.

Once I got back into it; I immediately noticed the massive up-take of teenagers, and a gradual lowering in quality of both sites & games since then.
I won't *explicitly* say that they're related, but it honestly wouldn't surprise me...

I'm sure you ruined a lot of grumpy old mens fun when you were teenagers.
