Metal slide glocks
30 July, 2010, 21:52
After a few hundred rounds through a real steel glock 18, I began to realise why on earth do airsoft glocks (very frequently) have metal slides when the real 'steel':D doesn't? Is it to give the user more felt recoil or just a load of marketing rubbish as in the more metal the better?
Cheers

All real steel Glocks have real steel slides.

Re: Metal slide glocks
Below an article about the Glock 17. Steel slide as said before!
The Glock pistol has a relatively low slide profile which holds the barrel axis close to the shooter's hand and makes the pistol more comfortable to shoot by reducing muzzle rise and allowing for faster aim recovery in rapid shooting sequence. The rectangular slide is milled from a single block of ordnance-grade steel using CNC machinery.

Re: Metal slide glocks
there's no way you could make a firearm slide from plastic "not just a glock" and have it take a recoil from a 9mm/10mm round you would end up with the slide impaled in your face

I'm sorry, but 2 hours ago I just fired 50 rounds of 9mm through a handgun with a plastic slide, it wasn't any glock this time but a cheaper spanish make I was told.
In reply to Jagillham yes the glock was 9mm

Re: Metal slide glocks
I've never heard of any production 9mm automatic that had a plastic slide. I just can't see how plastic (even the strong 'Polymer 2' type stuff that Glock use in their frames) could take the pressure for any length of time.

Re: Metal slide glocks
Nope, I assure you it was a real steel glock 18 with a plastic slide that I fired, wether it was an after market slide I don't know but I remember asking the owner about it after expecting it to be metal
