I noticed early this year that dead bracken made Multicam the best camo for the day, which is also very light.

owain the sa80 is not GERMAN ! it was one of the last rifles to leave the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock before it was pulled down and the a2 was modded by H&K in 2000 that was at the time owned by Royal Ordnance

Surely the only real reason the US Marines (et al) wear tan/coyote assault vests is because they are less expensive to produce than their camouflage counterparts - or at least until enough can be produced and purchased to roll them out en masse to units so that there can be outright conformality in larger scale units? In an ideal situation a soldiers' camouflage would all match in order to achieve the maximum camouflage effect. The reason I believe UK airsofters mix their kit is purely to copy what they see on TV and documentaries and not really much logic is applied. I personally spent quite a while gathering up my kit so that everything I have conforms to the same camouflage pattern so that I achieve the maximum camouflage effect. A comment above that camouflage in airsoft isn't really effective is utter rubbish as camouflage is camouflage. The reason he/she may not acknowledge this may well be due to the way airsoft is played. Not often in the UK have I seen people crawling or using cover in a manner whereby they can utilise their camouflage to maximum effect because if they did play like this then their camouflage would work. It's all about cause and effect.

Why not? There's more to the UK than green.

The reason the USMC use coyote brown is because it works with either desert or woodland MARPAT, and as you say, it's a cost saving exercise. However, it does work. Effective camouflage is all about movement. If you limit your movements, you're less likely to be spotted. I was nearly stepped on by several team mates at the GZ weekender a couple of years back while laying in the grass near the village while wearing woodland MARPAT with my CB interceptor.

personally i think the only reason so many people are currently wearing desert camo is that when you turn on the news you see soldiers wearing desert camo. people have spoken about mil sim being a better name for airsoft, as thats what many of us are trying to do, simulate the military. and as they're all wearing desert stuff, so are we.

                      Possibly, yeah.

I think you've got a point there. Definatley the media contributes towards peoples choices.

But maybe people just like it! :D

But none would wear desert in the UK/Europe. Oh well, each to their own of course.

We made it, then the germans fixed it because we didn't remember to make it work.

Surely by 'simulating the military' you should be simulating the thought processes and patterns they adopt? It's hardly accurate 'milsim' to wear a camouflage pattern not suited to the terrain being airsofted, it just makes a mockery of airsoft.

perhaps a LITTLE extreme, some players enjoy wearing camouflage they like, perhaps from their favourite film, tv show, real military unit in some other part of the world or who operates in a different location

also i cant remember where you posted it but when you were discussing SOP - again some of us just like to run around in the woods like madmen (not saying i do but i have seen the people who do) - its not a "mockery" of airsoft, its mockery of the armed forces perhaps

but airsoft is what you make it - there is no proper way to play the game - just like there is no proper camouflage to wear - if i want to wear bright pink neon trousers... i will - it will hurt but i might just have more fun than the person crawling through the mud - just depends how you want to play and what camoflauge you like to see yourself in
