Actually, that method using audacity should be pretty good, quite a lot of hassle though.

Probably cost you more than a £30 chrono as well...

Yeah, it's only worthwhile if you already have a decent mic, and a computer of course. Audacity is free though, so it's fine if that's the case (it is for me, I might have a go).

I came up with the audio Idea a while ago (independent to the other post, some ideas obviously most be more obvious than others).

It does work quite well (although you need a known gun FPS to test its accuracy and calibrate it).

You can also audacity for measuring volume levels, so if you make mods to your AEG etc you can test again thtat.

Audacity FREE (open source)

couple of cans FREE! (unless you had non in like me. so i spent £2)

so a grand total of £3

As Decho said, you need a decent mic, otherwise you might was well use a Coke can
