Re: What are the 'meat tenderizers' on guns...?
Thanks guys. I don't have one, although have always been curious about what they are for, and seeing one today for sale reminded me to ask the question.
And when I mentioned breaching, I didn't mean as a battering ram, I mean't to jam the muzzle into the hinge, like with a breaching shotgun and make sure it stays there as you fire. Which is marginally less stupid, although I wouldn't fancy a pistol round to have the desired effect.
Oddly though the instinctive, but I thought most stupid answer, was right. I think they look cool, if impractical, and obviously you wouldn't use them in airsoft to hit people. To be honest though I think I run more risk of hurting people by smacking them with my rifle barrel or running into them in airsoft, which are easier to do accidentally than ram your pistol into somone's face - to be honest, I don't see how that could be anything but intentional.

The concept in my mind on pistols is so if you hold it on someone it wont slip also it prevents them pushing back knocking the slide out of position enough to prevent a hammer strike.

that seems pretty awkward i mean how are you meant to angle your gun to strike something with the pistol grip wouldn't it make sense to have it on the buttstock?
Its not for hammering down on someone, like hitting them with the buttstock,It would just require a flick of the wrist, that, along the weight of the gun and the ridges will deter anyone from coming at you again, as you will almost certainly put them on their arse. Its no different to Knuckle dusters, you don't hit anyone harder wearing them, the force just transfers better onto a smaller area.
If you really must hit someone with a gun though, Buy an AK
or a SIG 226, either one of them would break bones without any damage to the weapon

Don't say that! I can think of a certain bearded fellow who may get excited at that very thought....

I always thought they were stand off devices...
On real steal, if you were to shoot someone by pushing the end of the barrel directly into them, the gases would not have anywhere to escape to and would stop the slide returning back.
By having the meat tenderizer on, the pattern allows gasses to escape and the slide to return to full battery, but they probably work well for smashing someones face in!

Is the right answer. Developed to provide grip and gas venting when the pistol is pressed into the target in close quarters

They are for smacking somebody in the face, NOT for breaking glass. Surely a centre punch design would be better suited for that

Re: What are the 'meat tenderizers' on guns...?
i have seen an mp5 on here with a strike kit installed a wile ago... im pretty sure after some reading it was described as an enhancement 'mainly' used for breaking through glass be it on a car or building..
i may be wrong on this, but im pretty sure thats what i read.
