Re: Hephaestus Custom: Thunder
muhhh I want this gun now....
I really hope they release the correct mags for this - or at least correct shells for you to install mag guts into, it would be upsetting to not have the correct look.

Re: Hephaestus Custom: Thunder
I completely forgot WE did an L85! Aren't they the only ones who make one though? And with the P90 that's only a prototype and from what I've heard, it's technically not a bullpup but something similar?
With the feed lip adapter I was thinking that'd be in gun in the same place as an AEG hop unit and so it'd just use standard AEG mags. With GBBRs being realistic, it's VERY hard to bring the price down to <£250 and with the mags being in the £30-50 price range it's not possible for the masses to use them and become commonplace, they take a similar place to C/PTWs, except are different enough for people to be suspicious of them. You are right about it being crappy and unsafe but there's no feasible way for a GBBR to be affordable compared to it's practicality without some of these frankly bad conversions.

Re: Hephaestus Custom: Thunder
I DONT CARE, TAKE MY MONEY I WILL SELL A KIDNEY BUYING THE GHK BITS TO MAKE IT USEABLE AFTERWARDS.
not my kidney obviously..someone elses who was silly enough to fall asleep in my kitchen.
On an unrelated matter..anyone fancy coming round mine for dinner. just ignore the operating table..its just furniture...
-'Sly villain! Thou does not acknowledge thine hits!'
-'I doth so, yonder vagabond, but thouest has the control of a nunnery whore, and thine accuracy doth compare to thine codpiece, short of the mark!'

I'm afraid the mag will be ghk ak-ish looking..so you can use it for ghk AKs too.
But I wish I'm wrong.

Re: Hephaestus Custom: Thunder
Aye - according to Wiki there were two main variants, one chambered in 7.62x39 which used standard AK mags in that calibre, the other was chambered in 9x39 subsonic that uses the 20 round dimpled mags shown in the above pic of the real gun. There was also an experimental variant that used 5.45x39 - that appears to be the one hephaestus are going for.
Perhaps prowin could be lovely enough to produce some 9x39 style mags for us!???

As far as I know the WE L85 is the only factory GBBR bullpup. There are of course other gas 'bullpups' (defined as 'a non-pistol firearm where the action is located behind the trigger group') in airsoft - the Asahi WA2000s were gas, but not blowback, and there are non-factory conversions (like the Muzzlelite stock for the KJW KC02) which turn existing GBBRs into bullpups. The P90 is definitely a bullpup - in fact, it appears on the
bullpup Wikipedia page
as an example of the type - and the rumour is the WE replica is almost entirely production-ready and just never going to be released because of licensing issues.

As in most choices in life, you can have it done quickly, cheaply, and/or properly - choose any
two
. GBBRs can be built cheaply, or they can be built
right
, and I think most GBBR owners would agree with me when I say that I would rather have the market concentrated at the high-quality end than at the 'cheap' end. GBBRs are only expensive by reference to AEGs; saying that they need to be <£250 is just an arbitrary number which doesn't take into account what it actually costs to make an entirely difference system. I feel like the 'budget' GBBRs (e.g., the GHK drop-in system later adopted by G&G) are as cheap as such things can be made (you're looking at £130 for the gun and £35 per magazine - so <£250 would get you the gun and four magazines). Even if GBBRs are expensive, so what? Current GBBRs are specialist weapons - nowhere near as reliable as AEGs, not capable of the same firepower, and badly affected by changes in ambient temperature. They should really only be bought by players that already own at least one AEG to keep as a backup - preferably also experienced in the art of airsoft maintenance and tuning. These are the sort of players who're more savvy about spending £500+ on a toy rifle, and for them the cost is relative to the product rather than a random round number. I wouldn't say that for most GBBR shooters the cost of the initial gun and its magazines is the biggest problem - for me, it's not even in the top five.

Re: Hephaestus Custom: Thunder
At first I thought this was WE based, with some mods this would be pretty good. Hephtaestus make some brilliant upgrade parts for WEs, much better than RA-Tech in my opinion.
Having just looked at the mag though, it's obviously GHK based, my interest in this has now gone from mild interest to full blown OBSESSION.
