That looks the mutts nuts mate. What have you used and how have you fitted the flash and smoke system. Plus any chance of a video clip of it working?

in brief the muzzle flash is a set of three ultra bright led's in the booster cone switched by a micro switch in the gearbox making contact with the piston at fully cocked ,the smoke comes from a smoke generator designed for an rc tank , i made a couple of you tube clips but the flash doesn't show well because of the frame rate of the camera, you just have to take my word for the fact it works.

                  that's bloody awesome.
how much room does all these bits need?. for example a gpmg flash hider doesn't have that much room to play with to put led's.
I was thinking of doing something similar using the old style powder system used on deacts or replicas, just never really put any enthusiasm into it.
I have also toyed with the idea of making a system like the flickering belt system the shoei 42 had to make it look like it was feeding rounds.

                    Re: Support Weapon Thread

for a GPMG it would not really be possible in the standard flash hider unless you could open it out internally and subtly increase the outer dimensions.the two gun's i have fitted with the system both the mg42 and the bren have larger cone shaped flash hiders.and it's not just the LED'S and the smoke generator but all the wiring needs to be fed inside the outer barrel alongside the inner barrel and even just 3 small wires take quit a bit of room, then you need space in the receiver for a micro switch on the gearbox to switch the LED's ....

here's a clip of the bren

                          Re: Support Weapon Thread

it was just something i made one Sunday when i was messing about and it worked, cost to install ... well the parts are cheap as chips ,there would be real problems fitting it into most guns, i was asked to build a stand alone system in a mock silencer like a tracer unit but to my mind that's a silly idea as you would hope a silencer would eliminate muzzle flash.if you are asking me to install it then i'm afraid you'r out of luck as i'm booked for a few months building ww2 bolt action rifles and then i have a ton of stuff i want to do for me, after that there's a flak38 20mm german ww2 anti aircraft gun to build for next year......not to mention being gun tech for about 25 people.
